That would be cool if it had everything you wanted. The PS5 Nvme controller is custom, and probably doesn't support all the functionality a normal NVMe drive. It's like a fast car without all the seat belts and air bags.

Does anyone know if this or other 2TB M.2 cards would fit into and work with Lenovo S540 laptops that have only 1 M.2 slot? They come with either a 256GB or 512GB stick and their spec sheets say they can handle up to 1TB, but I wonder if that's a hard limit or just what was tested to work at the time.

TBH even 512GB is probably fine for my needs, at most 1TB, but it's nice to know just in case.

it makes sense only if you have PCIe 4.0, otherwise, you won't use it to the whole potential, maybe 970 EVO Plus, might be a better choice, it is discounted on samsung website as well.

So you would have to check if your m.2 slot supports PCIE GEN 4. The difference between your nvme drive (hopefully your laptop is using nvme and not sata) is the data transfer rate. Pcie gen 3 is up to 1gbps and gen 4 is up to 2gbps. So the lanes essentially allocated for the m.2 slot need to support the pcie gen 4 or otherwise it'll run at pcie gen 3 speed effectively making your drive a 970 drive - AKA waste of money for a 980 since your computer is limited transfer rate.

You have one x4 pcie 3.0 2242/2280 m.2 slot. Any standard m.2 ssd will work, but you will either need to clone or reinstall the OS. Ssd's require x4, so if you have any other m.2's on there, you can't use them.

Too funny. I love Samsung but the meaning or intention behind their discounts has become farcical.

I just bought SN850 2TB for $379. Worth returning for this?

I heard SN850 was promised to be certified for PS5 compatibility.
