Semiconductor supply shortages [theguardian.com] are contributing to the high price. PCRichard is back to $1,299.96 for the 75H8G [pcrichard.com]. And Best Buy does not have the 75H8G in stock for most areas.
What are the other alternatives that are available to buy right now for cheaper? The only one I am aware of that is somewhat comparable is the TCL 75S535 for $999.99, but that one only goes up to around 450 nits according to RTings; on the positive side, it has 80 local dimming zones.
Fantastic price! Did you price-match, or was this an open-box?

"Open-Box Fair" shows up as $1,091.99. Bobloadmire got a killer deal at $1050 especially if it was New condition, but it is likely that it was a price mistake and is not replicable. TCL prices are stubbornly stuck for both the 5-series and 6-series.
Yes, I was wondering about this. Why reduce the number of dimming zones with the size increase?
It could be an error, of course, and it may be that the 75" is the one that has 60 zones, and the 65" instead has 48 zones, because if you check the 55" and 50", they have a steadily decreasing # of dimming zones. The 55" has 36 zones, the 50" has 32 zones.
One cool thing about this TV I didn't learn until after is that it's fully returnable for one year which is just insane.
