Features
Maximum speed
980 PRO is raising the bar for NVMe SSDs, delivering read speeds up to 7,000 MB/s². With a PCIe 4.0 interface, it is 2x faster than PCIe 3.0 SSDs³ and 12x faster than Samsung SATA SSDs⁴

A winning combination
Designed for hardcore gamers and tech-savvy users, the 980 PRO offers high-performance bandwidth and throughput for heavy-duty applications in gaming, graphics, data analytics, and more. It's fast at loading games, so you can play more and wait less.

Efficient M.2 SSD
The 980 PRO comes in a compact M.2 2280 form factor, which can be easily plugged into desktops and laptops. Due to its size and thus optimized power efficiency, it's ideal for building high-performance computing systems

Reliable thermal control
High-performance SSDs usually require high-performance thermal control. To ensure stable performance, the 980 PRO uses nickel coating to help manage the controller's heat level and a heat spreader label to deliver effective thermal control of the NAND chip.

Smart thermal solution
Embedded with Samsung's cutting-edge thermal control algorithm, 980 PRO manages heat on its own to deliver durable and reliable performance, while minimizing performance fluctuations during extended usage

Figured with the PS5 BETA update people are looking for a good deal on these for a while now.

The topic seems to imply 4 drives at this price.. aka price mistake.

I wouldn't have wasted my time to navigate to bestbuy if it was a single 980 Pro at this price. I get it though, that's how bestbuy lists it...

This is one of the drives that people are using for PS5 storage expansion. You'll want to add a heatsink. Note also that you currently need to be running the beta PS5 operating system to be able to use an additional SSD.

Price seems lower than I have seen in the last couple of weeks at least (I'm seeing $399 at Amazon).

I'm researching on which to get for a z370 and z270 which I believe maxes out at 32gb/s vs this 70gb/s. I'm not going to get something like this for my purpose but want to see what people have to say about nvme drives in general. Anyone recommend a 1+ TB nvme drive to max out throughout from past or present deals to keep an eye on?

I just sent my 980 Pro 2TB into Samsung warranty repair today. A bunch of bad blocks less than just six months of use. First Samsung drive I've had in several years with issues - they've all been rock solid up until this one. I'm not saying these are poor quality drives, but I hope I just had back luck on this particular one and it won't occur on the replacement.

Also note they would not do an advance cross ship replacement which makes the process a bit of a pain.

The low TBW spec has been stopping me from buying it.
