Just a bit warning that Nvidia pushed Google TV interface which is heavy on ads. Killed the experience.

The Pro does gaming better and has USB ports for external HDDs.

Yeah, I mean it is gimmicky but one of the few differences. The stick is great too. The remote alone is a huge upgrade over the prior gen. I have a few. Moved from Roku and never looked back. I stream my own UHD from NAS, obviously ripped legally from my own purchased Blu-rays so I don't need upscaling, but the Pro version just "feels" more premium

I have this and the 2017 Pro. All we use it for is YouTube, IPTv service, Plex, Netflix and Prime video. It'll reboot itself after hanging when opening an app to watch something once in a while. The pro is working flawlessly since I purchased it 3 years ago. Just picked up the 2019 pro and should be arriving in a couple of days.

Exact differences between pro and non pro, new versions and old? Also, diff's between old non pro and newer pro? Didn't the old pro's only have a bult in hdd?

I have 2 non pro older ones that have never had any problems handling anything I have thrown at them, so wondering if I missed something extra before and now? Any need to upgrade?

Use them for streaming downloaded 4k video movies and shows from a server PC and the usual Netflix and Amazon 4k.

I bought a pro version of the shield for gaming and connected a PS4 controller to it via bluetooth. Turns out it has awful bt range and was pretty useless for how I wanted to use it. It was a great device with a lot of potential but I ended up returning it.

Yes, the bluetooth issue is pretty rough. Plugging in an external drive causes RF interference that makes controller connection drop. At least that's the explanation I got; haven't tested if disconnecting drive I use for my movies would allow controller to stay connected.
