They have officially stopped providing price matches on TVs as of 2017. You didn't know about that policy, but it's been there 'forever' in Internet years. You can return literally anything to Amazon within the return window, unless they say please don't return it to us , *but here's your refund anyway.* Are you sure your buddy's story is correct ?
No I am not 100% sure as I wasn't there, it is pure heresy, but why would he lie? Maybe UPS didn't wanna take it back be sure it's a 65" 75 lb tv? But based on the way Amazon has treated me over the last year or two I can certainly believe it. Something that did happen to me last Summer is I bought a new pressure washer from them and it was delivered broken. They did process an exchange but sent me an obviously used, slightly dirty one shipped in a nondescript cardboard box (as opposed to it's original packaging). It was a major fight to get them to send me a new one like what I paid for. And no recompense for all the time it took and the 2 extra trips to the UPS store.

Another Amazon problem: I cancelled Prime (bought a month to get the deal on this TV) because their 2 day delivery constantly takes 4 or more days now. I used to not mind it because everytime I complained about it they would give me a bit of credit or give me a month of prime for free, but now they just say "sorry it won't happen again"..... But it almost always does. I get that delivery to the rural US isn't always convenient but don't offer 2 days if you refuse to do 2 days and you refuse to make it right when you fail.

And I don't know why they bothered emailing me a movers coupon when I moved if they are gonna refuse to honor it. It was only 10% off anything $200 or less so I gave up without much of a fight, but it's insane that they will send that out then refuse to let you use it.

Anyways for this TV Amazon finally gave me my credit but only after fighting through several CS representatives AND going through a supervisor. This really is an asinine policy. Why would they rather have people refuse shipment and reorder the same product vs just issuing a credit? Surely anybody who cares enough to watch the prices is gonna realize that's an option and do it, and the shipping has to cost them more than simply adjusting the price. And it's not like I was asking them to PM or Best Buy, this is their own website/price.

Sorry for the long rant, it's extremely frustrating to see how they have devolved in the last few years. I guess the moral is it's better to buy this TV from Best Buy in case the price lowers again, because that price change more than ate up the extra 5% I am supposed to get back by buying on my prime card.

Bought this 2 wks ago. Great TV for the price but paid 1100 plus tax. Does BB price adjust?
Maybe look into that prior to making purchases. Good luck

In my opinion . ..

No dEal - - - Prices are nutz this year.

I paid $399 for my Hisense 55H8F less than 2 years ago in November.

It has the excellent picture quality and all the features of the 55U8G that is now selling for $849.99.

Over twice the price ? ? ? ?
You really need to read-up on the specs of this year's ULED Series. The H8F is no match even for the U6G. The 55" U6G is currently $499 and well worth the extra $100.

If anyone is on the fence about this one it's a great tv for the features and price. I came from a Sony 900f that died. The new Sony that I wanted wasn't out yet so I picked up this Hisense after pretty much every reviewer was raving about it. I had two issues with it both remedy. The first was motion for slow content like TV and movies was awful at first with slow panning shots there was a lot of stutter and judder, the latest firmware fixed that. 2nd issue could of happen with anything electronics related but mine had a bad power board out of the box, if brightness went about 80 it would start to flicker. Hisense sent out a tech and replaced the power board. I didn't want to deal with returning it plus I got it on day one bestbuy had it. They didn't have any around me that had it in stock to exchange.

Some additional specs out of the box
HDMI 2.1
E-arc
All the new gaming features
Dolby vision IQ (basically a profile with specific coloring and motion, you can switch to Dolby vision custom to override)

Even with those issues stellar tv, this things gets insanely bright, I don't ever run it at 100 unless the windows open to cut the reflection down.

Is this better than the TCL 646 for sale at BB?

Also, I have 55 inch LG C9 OLED and need to upgrade to a 65 - how bummed am I gonna be about losing oled vs mini-led? I mainly just watch TV and have an xbox series S that I play only from time to time.

Amazon is matching the price, plus they're giving 10% back in rewards if your purchase with prime visa. Less convenient than Best Buy, but lower final cost.

I'm super happy to see this drop below $1k, good sign of further price drops or Black Friday deals.

Now I just need a reputable seller who doesn't charge tax, and allows returns, to price match this 😉.

Also, what are general thoughts on the Best Buy tv protection plans? $129 for 2 years and includes delivery and install. That's pretty legit.

These TV prices are nuts, especially since everyone and their mother upgraded already during the pandemic. Just what I wanted but I'll wait and see how Black Friday goes or just wait til these shortages end in Feb.

Depends on if you need the installation. Expensive if not when you can just use a CC that gives you an additional year or 2 of protection.
