Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank privater

I have this one on April, used a bit and returned, not satisfy with the performance. Asus did everything wrong to limit its full potential:
  1. 3070 is TDP limited to around 80-95w, mediocre performance, even lower than 100w RTX 3060.
  2. Asus doesn't have Mux switch, so 10-15% performance degradation on internal display.
  3. Memory is half soldered on motherboard and it's single rank, so another system wide performance degradation of 10-15%, and you can't change the memory to make it dual rank.
  4. HDMI is 2.0, and there is no way to reroute HDMI 2.1 from it's Type-C port since it's wired to internal radeon gpu. So no support for most HDMI 2.1 120hz 4k tv.
  5. Because the HDMI is wired to radeon, you also suffers same 10-15% performance degradation due to same situation of no Mux switch, all traffic goes to HDMI need to buffer through internal radeon gpu. only way to properly avoid is using Type-C convert to DP 1.4.
All in all it's just a low power laptop. with glorify CPU. GPU specs and upsale price but almost 30-50% less performance than properly design similar laptop. And asus in all it's way prevent the end user to utilize it's full potential, gimped cpu, gpu, memory, ports and no camera...In return, it does have a good battery life.

My general guide on 2021 Asus/Rog laptop: stay away! intentionally crippled bad apples.

So if you don't like this laptop, what do you go with then? I'm looking for a video editing laptop

This laptop is more suitable for the on the go people who require more graphics power than the onboard options. It certainly will feel underpowered for gaming enthusiast. The RTX 3070 on something like Legion laptops will perform much faster!
I would not suggest this one for gamers, but creators & normal users will enjoy this!

This is mad slick right there. If you are in the market for a gaming laptop, snag this right now. Great price for the specs.

I got the g14 model a year ago and my wifi card is already dead. Also, it gets extremely hot (opened and removed all dust blockage). Hopefully this is ok.

There is also this one that's $50 cheaper. I know NOTHING about gaming laptops though.

This is helpful but every professional review has it at or above most other similar laptops in terms of GPU and CPU power as well as battery life and display.

This is a good deal. BB has the 14" version 3060 with QHD panel for 1349.99 (200 off) right now as well. I purchased that instead.
3060 will run games poorly at qhd.

As a photographer, I picked up an open box g15 about a week ago. It wasn't as cheap as this deal, so will be returning that one and purchasing this one. Here are my thoughts so far.

The battery life on this model is a major selling point if you travel a lot. I can repeatably get 7-8 hours editing Photoshop/Lightroom. 10-12hrs on browsing/content viewing.

The screen has decent color out of the box and with calibration is fantastic. Having a wide gamut is vital for creatives. The resolution is a sweet spot for editing at this size.

As to gaming performance, it isn't going to compete with a desktop. For eSports titles it is more than powerful enough to max framerates on the display. For AAA titles I still get an experience that doesn't distract with smooth frames and minimal drops.

If you are a creative who games on the side on the road I highly recommend this laptop. It has its limitations, but once you throw in a second, bigger hard drive and another 32gb of ram, this machine will do pretty much everything you need/can expect it to all while beating out most other laptops in terms of battery life.

Hmm should I return the msi delta 15 advantage and spend the extra money on this?
Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. So far I'm pleased with the Delta myself.

I had the 14" Zephyrus with the 2060 and 4900. I didn't like it. At all. The monitor was pretty garbage. This one might be better though.

If this were a desktop version of the components, how much more powerful would it be?

Link please?

Got an email from BB said it was a price mistake but they're going to honor it. I'll post the link below but it's back to $1549. The 15.6 is better for gaming I wanted something small to edit videos.
