Good deal, again, this is a thin and light that doesn't really compete with the likes of faster laptops such as the Legion 5 pro, Omen 17T or GP66(all similarly priced 3070 competitors).

So it's for buyers who want a thin and light, and is excellent in that regard. Performance is around Max-P 130w 3060 laptops

No you've misunderstood, my mistake if I wasn't too clear. In this laptop the GPU is a 100w, and CPU is 35w(when GPU is running at same time). I said it performs similar to 3060 130w(the maximum wattage for a 3060) gaming laptops as a point of reference.

In other words, 100w 3070 = 130w 3060. The 3070 is actually a % ahead of such a 3060

5900HS tdp 35w
RTX 3070 tdp 100w

So low voltage/performance not ideal.

Because that laptop isn't a thin and light/Ultrabook. It's your more average larger heavier laptop.
I mean as in faster laptops. They both have similar cpu and identical power 130w vs 140w GPU. Wouldn't this be better for a 10w GPU difference if this is lighter?

I really like how they keep the numpad off these models so the touchpad is centered, but I tried 3 different Asus laptops over this past year and they all had little annoying quality control issues. It seems to be a common theme for them which is surprising given the premium they charge on some of their laptops.

Anyone have an idea how this compares against costcos msi ge76 that will be sold for $1,200? i7-11800h and rtx 3060. spend the extra 350 for rtx 3070? or save and just settle for the rtx 3060 with the better return policy?

I picked this up last week Open Box for $13xx, had some scratches on the bottom but pristine otherwise. Right now is the best time to get a laptop from BB due to the Holiday Return Policy, which gives you until Jan 15th to return. I'm trying it along side with the MSI Delta 15 that I got from Best Buy about a week prior, will be keeping one in the end.

I have the Costco msi ge76. It is chunky and heavy, performance is good. Played battlefield 4 normal setting on there without lags, but portability is my main dislike. The screen is pretty dim so I opt to use an external monitor. I just got the Legion 5 Pro with 3070 from Walmart, it is lighter and so far I like it better for ~$100 more than the Costco msi ge 76. But it depends on your needs.

Oof, I ordered the GE76 - but, in Black Friday it will be down to $1200 and I am eligible for price adjustment. So it is really about $400 diff. I am trying to optimize here but it is hard. If anyone has any advice, the user is an 11 year old aspiring coder and Minecraft maniac, though there's nothing to say he won't get into more stuff he won't be carrying it around very much.

How is this $100 more than the GE76? Walmart sells this for 1800 - the ge76 is $1500 now and $1200 soon. Am I missing something?

This thing is a beast. I bought a G15 and a couple G14's. G15 is smaller and lighter than I anticipated. I disabled the "boost" function in silent and performance mode while leaving it enabled on turbo. Runs under 75 now in performance even under demanding conditions.

As usual there are pros and cons for each:

G15 pros:
- 1440p
- slightly higher CPU
- 3070 is half a tier better than the 6700M according to more reviews
- Charges via USB-C (slowly, but big deal to me)
- Much larger touchpad
- Easier to upgrade parts

MSI Delta pros:
- 240hz screen, even though probably I won't ever need it
- Better keyboard for typing, I tested with a typing test and I end up being 20% faster on the MSI
- Webcam included
- Better hinge design, I don't like the G15's "flip to elevate" hinge, and the fans end up blowing hot air directly towards the screen
- Slightly more understated design imo

For context I bought the MSI new for $1300, and G15 for $13xx Open Box; I will probably end up keeping the G15 because it's a better deal and charging via USB-C is huge plus for me. Although I don't play any graphics intensive games on my laptop (got a desktop for that) so I didn't do any actual gaming comparisons.

Currently have this laptop and testing against Razer 14 and ROG flow x13. Overall I prefer the flow x13 bc it is insanely portable and charges by usb-c... It's not a gaming machine but has unmatched power for it's weight class

The razer is amazing but the 3060 version has a bad screen. I think I'ma end up keeping this g15 in the end bc the price is just too good. 3070, amazing screen... wish it had the 16:10 of the M16, plenty of ports and a well built chassis and keyboard. If the ROG flow x13 was able to cram a 3060 inside it wouldn't even be a discussion.
