On large ultrawide monitors, the curve helps significant reduce eye strain / eye fatigue. If you Google around, there have been several studies done that confirm this (some more scientific / precise than others, but almost all conclude the same thing).

Basically, your eyes are not flat - they're rounded, so having the curve helps brings more of the monitor into your field of view without needing to move or strain your eyes (which happens has a reflex even if you don't intentionally do it) to see what's on the screen because the curve brings more of the image into a narrower field of view.

A curved monitor isn't going to solve every problem, and the larger the monitor the more you will need to move or strain your eyes to see it (for example, you're never going to have the entirety of a 49" curved monitor into your field of view), but it's almost always going to be easier on your eyes than a flat monitor will be.

I went from a flat 27" to a curved 34" ultrawide several years back as my primary productivity monitor (mostly office applications, word processing, etc.) and while I wasn't having any serious issues with the 27", within a day or two I noticed a considerable relief from eye strain and headaches and have never looked back.
That sounds opposite... Usually the bigger the monitor, the more people like the curve.
From my research if you game you want a curve. If you work and do photo & video editing you don't necessarily want a curve.

I have a similar ultra wide by LG - if you code I highly recommend it. In IntelliJ I can do a side, by side, by side layout so I can see 3 files easily without moving as much. I also have flanking 24" 1080P's in portrait that allow me to throw up a browser , debugger and consoles for things I do not need to see all the time. I combine all this with Display Fusion to make snapping a window to 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4th of the screen easily without my mouse and also take full advantage of Windows 10 virtual desktops + XMouse to remap my back and forward buttons on my mouse (I never used them before) to automatically switch between virtual desktops (CTRL+WIN+LEFT/RIGHT). I also re-mapped my middle click button to WIN+TAB to bring up the overview display so I can drag windows to other virtual desktops easily. I keep one desktop for coding, one for Outlook / meetings / calendar / chat, one for connecting to servers (not coding) and one for personal stuff (webmail, reddit, etc.).

I have toyed around with the idea of ditching the flanking monitors as they can sometimes be distracting and just using one... with the virtual desktops setup I could probably get away with it as long as it was a monitor like this.

Wow. this is crazy! 34" for 249.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not lol. What's a usual price for an ultrawide like this?

I doubt that one was the same as this one. There is a model very similar to this that is 2560x1080. It's probably that one.

This is it, slickdeals will only allow me to upload 1 pic at a time

This is a decent price for 34" @ 1440p. But given its not curved, like many I will pass too.

I have an LG 34" 1080p non curved that I bought just over a year ago for about the same price.

Thank you, good info... been waiting for a 34" to move off of 2 x 27" office productivity/dev primary... but now not jumping on this since your comments lead me to curved 34"... come on Black Friday!

What's expectations for a good BF deal 34" curved?? $250?

So tempted. I'm a developer and have been using a 3-monitor setup with a 27" 16:9 as my center monitor (1440p). I am still frustrated that I can't get 3 windows up side-by-side on the main monitor. The lack of curve, though, I think could be an issue and is probably the only thing preventing me from giving it a shot.

Does anyone know what Walmart's return policy would be for a monitor like this

What gpu do you have? This being ultrawide it already has to push 1/3 more pixels than the one you posted.

Anyway framerate and ultrawide are two different gpu consumers, some might value one over the other, everyone is different. For me I'd rather have ultrawide at 75fps than standard wide screen at 120fps. But again everyone is different.

And then there is the production side which this thing is the winner hands down over the one you posted.

Right now the Monoprice 35" curve monitor is 300 free shipping and last I checked no sales taxed. Make sure to uss the coupon they have on the site page. Not sure you will see a 34" curve in the 250 range around blackfriday with supply issues but you never know.

Do you have a Costco membershi? Costco has this same monitor for a similar price every couple of months and have a great return policy.

I think the need for a curve on this monitor isn't needed but it's a personal preference. Before I got this one I checked out a few curved ones at microcenter and I really didn't like them. Maybe there is a adjustment period but for me it felt unnatural

What brand? I guess it might be an off-brand with no post-sale support, if this is indeed the case then this listing and other listings through BB, Costco for branded versions have an upper hand for the brand name and post-sales support.

I purchased a 32" ACER standard monitor (WQHD) from the Costco deal listed here on SD. Being 1.5 - 2 ft away from my monitor, I have not run into view issues. Also, I use my monitor 10 hrs a day on avg. All standard settings and I have not changed my font scale size it is still at 100%.
The panel is IPS

This type of VA ultra wide is capable of overclocking to 80+ hz (sometimes 90) refresh rate.
