I bought this Samsung drive for the PS5 as well. After doing a lot of research, there are a ton of options between $10-20. Sabrent recently released a PS5 heatsink cover that works for most SSDs in the M.2 slot and it replaces the factory SSD cover which is pretty handy. It seems to preform fairly well based on a lot of youtube reviews and the one I ended up purchasing since its a very large heatsink compared to all the other heatsinks on the market.

Another popular option is the MHQJRH heatsink at Amazon, but can be found under other rebranded names. It's another option that is cheaper at around $11-14 but to get the most use of out it, you'll need to keep the PS5 SSD cover off to get proper airflow. While people may say Sony recommends keeping the cover on for negative air pressure, for the SSD itself, temperatures are far better with the cover off.

I'm building a new build, would this be worth it as the only drive or 2 1tb?

EDIT: seems I'll be grabbing a 980 pro and a 970 evo plus since they're both on sale… now to figure out sizes

You could get a smaller boot drive like a 512gb one and a larger data drive. Back in the day it was a SATA based ssd and a spinning data drive. Just having one SSD theoretically eats into the write cycles and shortens the lifespan. On average work loads, the impact is small though.

The champ is here! 😊 I own neither lol but I'm partial to the 980 Pro vs the SN850! I was just talking about these in another thread. Maybe if a few more bucks were sliced off this I might have 2 get it for the PS5😠then a 2TB MX500 also?😑 if some1 thinks this price is absolutely too good to pass up.. please tell me! I will force my pockets to spend the 300. I would only need 1 but I do imagine for PC peeps this is a steal!!!
