I wouldn't buy a processor from newegg is my life depended on it.

They sent me a defective CPU years ago and refused to take it back because they suspected it was due to 'installation failure' without even giving me a RMA label to return the merchandise, wtf?

I ended up buying another processor and out $300. Never again Newegg. Never. Again.
This is really a deal on zip pay, not on the processor. This deal works with anything at newegg and gives 15% off entire order, up to $100 discount.
Newegg customer service could be really bad. I hope you tried several of them before giving up. I always have my credit card guarantee as a backup when buying from them.

If you are worrying about electric bills, you may need something else lol. 12900 does run hot and gulps wattage for production intensive loads. More than just fine for gaming scenarios though. 12700 would be my go to
Also ddr5 support. I would go intel too

You can get a 5700G on ebay through 'ant on line' for $280. Was waiting for a 5600g to go a bit cheaper. The cheapest is Microcenter for about $220 with tax. But this deal may not last forever so I bought this morning. Just got my Asus Tuf Zaku edition board, 32G memory, and M.2 drive. Case will arive today. But my Tuf PSU and 5700G won't be here till next week. Won't be using a GPU...until Covid clears up. I figure 2035 at the earliest :u/

Have had a 5950X since January. Great processor, love the performance. I'm set for the next several years. If I were buying today, I'd get the intel. If I could wait a bit, I'd see what Zen 4 had to offer late next year.

DDR5 won't really be worth it until about the time next gen Intels are out. Too $$$ for the non-existent to miniscule performance increases over moderately-priced ddr4. It's the same story every time a new ram standard is released. I remember every new standard launch going back to DDR replacing SDR and it's the same story every time. The first round of the new RAM and memory controllers almost never show meaningful performance increases but cost >2x.

Yes, you have to watch their return policy. CPUs are non-returnable, no mater what the problem is. You have to go through AMD or Intel. And good luck with that. But I have purchased 10 or more items just recently with them. But Amazon is the way to go if you are thinking about returning anything. But they also add about 5% tax on me. Newegg has no tax for me. Neither did ebay for the 5700G I bought this morning.

I stand corrected...Newegg should 'replace' your CPU but not refund your $$$.

Yea, 12900k is just terrible value. Even if we don't count the electricity, its performance is lackluster next to the platform price + ddr5. Just terrible performance/dollar. laugh out loud

Switch the seller. They have it for $709.99 and it looks like the $100 also works

While I was messing with quad pay, The 12900K for $520 went out of stock. I went with the 12700K instead.
