Oh, so does your PC fit in a backpack and can take it to classes at the university or in the airplanes? Does it work without being plugged to the wall too?
only 1 is soldered, and 16GB is good enough for 90% of the people. You can add another dimm to pair with the soldered one if you so wish.

Can you carry that with you and if you're going to say yes, where do you attach the monitor and power it?

I've been looking for something around $1K-$1.2K range and wondering if this is my best option.

I'm looking for a gaming laptop to bring to my g/fs on the weekends 1-2 times a month, and occasionally when I house sit for friends or go on trips.

I already have a good self-built gaming desktop so most games I play on that, this would mainly be for FF14, League, Overwatch, and various Steam co-op games which generally aren't cutting edge.

Also majority of time this would be docked to a Dell docking station with a monitor and KB+Mouse, so don't care as much about the screen and super portability. With that in mind not sure if being docked 90% of the time means something else would be a better option or for the $1200 range this is still a really good buy?

I ordered one to try out. I almost bought the FHD model a few days ago when it was on sale, but this one is even cheaper. Even though it's 120Hz instead of the 144Hz I'll gladly take that hit for the added DCI-P3 gamut. Though, the M16 is $1150 at Best Buy as well and that 16:10 165Hz 500 Nit display is even better than this one.. But is that trade off between 14" with a 3060 worth it vs the 16" with a 3050ti... Ugh, decisions decisions..

I bought the FHD when it was on sale, but when I got to see this deal, I immediately went to BestBuy and switched to this one due to ghosting, screen response time and better color to make it a well packed laptop

You just made those number, didn't you? Let me tell you a truth, if you're doing gaming or any demanding works in your laptop unplugged, it is always going to be less than 2 hours, with 1440p or 1080p. But feel free to share some reviews backing up your claim of battery life or playing 1080p at a 1440p screen looking very bad.

He's not talking about getting the 1.5 hours less of battery life while gaming. He's talking about general use. Obviously no one's comparing better life in terms of gaming unplugged.

Yeah, I've owned the 2021 g14 1080p screen and even heavy (non-gaming) usage was seeing 5+ hours of screen time. Light office usage was more like 8.

That's also a wrong statement. Reviews available for both version to check. All the numbers he gave are made up for sake of arguments.

I'm returning my open box unit even though it's brand new. The QHD screen is a little washed out (maybe I have to mess with the settings), but more importantly for me it's the overall design. In person it's like a laptop from 2016.

Got an open box in excellent condition but will most likely return it. The Mediatek m7921 wifi chip used in this thing is just awful. Right out of the gate with the default driver I somehow only got 1Mb/s while a laptop right next to it(tested it with both MacBook Air M1 and Lenovo Legion 5i Pro) got 400Mb/s. After upgrading the driver the speed improved but the reception is still awful, move a couple room away from the router and the Legion & M1 still have full signal but this thing is down to 1/2 to sometimes no signal and the speed is only 1/3 that of the other laptops

I ordered a Asus VivoBook Pro 14x with i5-11300H, 14" 2.8K OLED 90hz 600nits screen, 16gb RAM, 512GB M.2 NVME, and RTX 3050 for $800. Would this deal have been a better one?

Depends on your usecase, the OLED screen will be a lot better and if you play games at 900p your gpu might suffice.
