Should I get the 970 evo plus 2 TB for $197 (samsung edu pricing) or this the 980 pro 2 tb for $280? I have the dell 17 9710 which has the pcie 4 port so I'm torn if its worth the extra $83

ur Comp has a PCIe 4.0 you mind as well go for the 980! The speed is pretty crazy.. but ask urself what r u gunna mainly b doing on this Comp? Will that benefit from insane speeds, or will super fast speeds b good enough?
Still waiting to replace my 1TB NVMe SSD I bought three years ago for $69. Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron stop colluding to milk the consumer at 1-2TB kkthx. We are ready to be cheated at 8-128TB.
Also if you don't mind we need pcie 5/6 drives with read/write speeds ot 20,000 MB/s not these shitty pcies 3 speeds from 10 years ago.
Digitimes: Samsung new NAND flash capacity coming online in 2H21 may worsen price falls.
Everyone has been brainwashed to eat these high price because xyz reasons. It's easier and cheaper to print ssd NAND memory than make a hard drive yet you don't see those staying stationary at 1-2TB for the past 3 years.

What are you talking about? Sites that graph actual prices at retail show price of e.g. SN550 dropping by 50% over the last 2-3 years.
I finally decided to place an order with Sabrent PS5 heatsink last night. I did my research for PS5 expansion that Samsung 980 pro is one of the excellent M.2 Gen4 SSD, its read speed 7000 MB/s (in reality probably 6500s-6900s MB/s) that is the decent speed of loading up games. Folks, ensure you get a heatsink for this SSD to keep high performance throughout usage. Peace. ✌️
I wouldn't trust WD to last more than a month or two before failing. Every single WD(Raptor, Velociraptor, Blue4TB) that I've ever had from them has failed and needed RMA'd. Seagate isn't known for quality in the SSD market either. Samsung has never failed on me.
