Just FYI for anyone with older wiring, this requires a neutral wire and the box to be properly grounded.
I have several kasa switches and plugs, never failed or giving me any issue. But really wish they have something that uses zwave or zigbee so they don't congest my wifi.
Always goes on sale for this price. Good switch tho.

If anyone happens to not be fond of Amazon, B&H Photo Video usually puts these on sale at the same time as Amazon. They're also $35 right now

Just to throw in my 2 cents, I have 21 of these installed in my house just over a year or so and as of now I have 7 of them that will not connect back to the network. I generally like the TP-Link products as I have many of the smart plugs (and other products) that work perfectly.

As a few people have mentioned previously, the reset button is relatively easy to press so I am going to chalk up the issues I have had with the switches that I was able to get reconnected (outside of the 7 that only function as a regular switch) to that.

However I do have a few of the GE Z-Wave products installed because at the time I was putting the smart switches in the house TP-Link didn't have anything for ceiling fans (to my knowledge) and have had zero issues with those. I am at the point that I don't really trust the longevity of the TP-Link switches and I will probably just replace the dead switches to the Z-Wave products.

Do you have to have smart bulbs in order to use those?

I bought a set of these. They just work. Easy to install, easy to setup and the app actually works and integrates flawlessly with Google Home. BUT...

...the physical switch portion is annoying to use. With a typical light switch up is on and down is off. With these switches you click the bottom portion for on and off. It's as counter intuitive as it gets and goes against the design of most every light switch in a typical building. Why TP-Link? Why?

So are there any smart light switches that actually function like switches rather than on/off push buttons?

Is your exhaust fan on a separate switch than the light? Any ideas how many amps the exhaust fan requires? I use these in our rooms with ceiling fans and they work great but don't think this will work on exhaust fan unless its on its own switch and requires 1.5A or below. Also not sure about the motion detection...

Yes my lighting is powered along with the bathroom exhaust fan. There's only 1 6 inch recessed led light tied to the exhaust fan. Unfortunately i don't know the amp the fan carries. Believe it's a Panasonic Exhaust fan with roughly 80 cfm

Look into WebCore for SmartThings. I have several of these switches scattered throughout the house. I use a motion sensor in my office to turn on this switch if it sees motion between set times M-F. If there is no motion detected for 12 minutes, the light turns off. Been working flawlessly for well over a year (work from home life).
Thanks. I finally started to look at WebCore and unfortunately none of my TP-Link Kasa devices (I have 5) shows up in the device list within WebCore. Did you have to do anything special to have it show up in webcore? TIA !!
