I've been extremely upset with drivers and functionality of my G15 in both windows and Linux.

I can't even sell it because no one wants it.

it runs hot and loud too. fans run so hard they broke after a bit over a year.

I bought the 3060 version of this last summer and had no issues with it. Games/work/everything ran fine. -at least in Windows. Fans spooled up as often as you'd expect: once in a while when doing docs/spreadsheets and mostly tolerable when playing games. I know this one is a 3070, but just throwing my nearby experience in.
I only changed it out for the Legion 7 Slim because I prefer Lenovo's kb and need a cam/numpad for work.

Worth a shot at this price. I returned my previous all AMD Delta 15 due to high temps and incompatibility between that GPU and some of the games I played. This will obviously work better assuming it doesn't run too hot.

One day Best Buy will ban me for buying and returning laptops.

8GB RAM soldered to MB with only one slot for expansion. Ruins the deal for me.

I got this last December and I like it, it's a good mix of portability, battery power, and graphics power. It does run pretty hot, but I use a laptop cooler to help out.

I've had both. I stuck with the G15 3080. The G15 is less performant, but it can serve as an all-purpose laptop since it's much lighter and doesn't look too gamer-y.

G15 is 4.2 lbs + 1 lb charging brick.

Legion 5 Pro 15'' is 5.7 lbs + 2 lb charging brick. It's really chonky. Amazing cooling though.
