Was $265 back in Sept 2020 when I got it. Which taking inflation into account, is the same price as today without the total tech. Worth getting now to avoid the long waits for install during the winter.

I believe it is lifetime warranty as long as you have the papers. You can take it to them to get it checked.

My niece has totaltech. I assume she can just purchase this for me. Does she have to go to the store at the time of install.
She can list you as the person bringing the car in...

I guess not - they do give you a discount on tech repair if you use geeksquad and bought somewhere else.
Total tech is full on rip. They hiked prices up, now charge total tech, to bring prices to where they was. I've pretty much shunned bb here on out

I wouldnt say you're wrong, they diddnt do it to lose money. In this case I think its a slickdeal as you're essentially getting it for free. No way I would pay for this normally

I'm confused, do they put power locks in the vehicle too?
They fire off the existing power locks if you have them. If an old car with no power locks they can install actuators to make them power. My old Mazda the driver's lock would cause the others to lock/unlock but I had no remote, the actuator gave me keyless entry.

Out of curiosity, what are the biggest benefits from this?
We live in Texas and getting a newborn in pre-cooled car in a summer kept him calm.

So i paid $275 for this other one 6 months ago at bestbuy: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/comp...pp_android

And its a lot better because you can remote start it with your phone and the key if you really wanted to. Right now its overpriced $489 even with totaltech, but it goes on sale often.

I would get the cellphone intergration over standard remote start since its unlimited range and you monitor/track your car with the app. There is of course a monthly/yearly yearly fee but even with that, it ended up being a really good deal.

I would pass on the key only remote start

Many vehicles come with factory autostart now, but their range is very limited. These have great range and are mainly for warming up or cooling off your cabin before you go out to your vehicle. I would consider installing this for my wife's car instead of using her factory autostart, just for the range.

My car never had autostart until I had one installed. The first one started going on the fritz after a few years, so I got this one to replace it 2-3 years ago and it has been wonderful.

Be prepared to pay some extra for certain things they might need to install to make it work with your vehicle.

I decided not to carry my factory fob and that meant giving up having the panic button option on this unit, because it would have cost an extra $100 for an extra module, IIRC.

HTH!
Get the remote start with 4g module instead: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/comp...pp_android

Screw people with manual transmissions I guess... I mean I kinda get why, but at the same time, I imagine anyone with a manual would know not to put it in gear if they plan on using this.

Would this replace the need to carry the key fob for an Acura to start it inside or would we need to have both fobs? Description says it replaces lock/unlock and was curious on push button start. Thanks if anyone has experience. (Lost a FOB and dealer wants $400 - seems like this could be a solid replacement/upgrade)
