I'm in the same boat, wondering if it's enough extra storage for my series X.
Why would they come out with a faster storage expansion? This is literally the same speed as the internal. They also aren't going to drop down in price much less than this. I'd say these are on sale bc no one is wasting money buying a 500gb expansion when that's like 3 games then you have to buy another and keep swapping which would be inconvenient

Forget about GTA 6. Hoping it never comes out. Never liked GTA
I hope gta 6 7 8 and 9 come out on the same day and someone forces you to buy all of them and play through each one, one after the other. and you can't use the bathroom either.

Feels like this could be a stock clearing strategy to release a lower price 1TB and maybe some 2TB or 4 TB versions.
That was my thought too. With game sizes these days I feel 1TB is the minimum expansion. Still bought one though, thank you Slickdeals 😋

With GTA 6 in the future this should fit the whole game not including gameplay data. Thanks OP!
By the time GTA 6 comes out I'm sure the 20TB version will be this price. 😀

I feel like these have not gone on sale very much, so I am tempted to grab this, but any word on if there is a coming improved model or alternate?
They won't have an improved model, this is literally using the proprietary technology for direct storage that is the newest tech. They may release cheaper higher storage models, but it's not like you'll get a PCIe5 drive model upgrade, they would have to release a new console model for that.

First world problems but I have a S and a X in my two houses and I hate downloading games twice when going between them. Instant purchase!

Can this run the series x games from it without having to transfer to internal?

1TB also is the max to run games. 2TB can store but not run.
Smh the 2TB runs all games xb, 360, xb1, & s x Just like the internal. USB externals have a limitation to store S|X titles but not play S|X titles.

Just buy an external SSD and move games between the internal SSD and the external SSD. It takes me about 5 mins to move a game between external and internal, you likely only do it once every few months, and you can get a 1 TB SSD for less than this.
