It'll work with the PS5. But with an external drive you may only store PS5 games, not play directly. They must be transferred to internal storage before playing. As for any PS4 games you may have, then yeah you can play direct from the external with your PS5.

Note however that the internals are not NVMe or NVMe-like, such as the Samsung T7. This is more like a Samsung T5. So it doesn't come close to the speed capabilities of their current lineup.

Many of us got 2TB T7's a couple of months ago for under $120...

I have both T7 and 1TB version of this. This one is a little faster than T7 on my intel Mac. Actually it performs better in most test categories, but their differences are not noticeable in daily use

Almost bought it for $300 like a month ago from the WD website. The person that wanted it waited too long. $370 right now.
