I was just about to post this deal. You guys are quick! I picked up one. For $54 it's a hard deal to beat. Even though it is QLC, Intel implemented it really well. This also has Dram cache. Perfect drive for the budget build. Just make sure you buy a big enough drive so you won't fill it past 75% and you'll be good.

Didn't know about this, what happens if you keep it filled past 75% capacity?

What specifications would allow for a hard drive to be utilized more than 75% of capacity without taking a performance hit? DRam, TLC, etc?

I use SSD's with an external enclosure (or an adapter cable for 2.5" drives) for making backups and archives. If you want 2TB of storage, B&H has the 660p for $100 after their coupon is automatically applied in the cart.

Yes, it's the older generation and not as fast - but if you're looking for bulk storage capacity in a reliable name brand... that seems hard to beat. Only about 3 hours left to order it though - unless their "Deal Zone" timer countdown is BS. (?)

In the good old days ago we only had to decide between SLC vs MLC. Then there was panic when TLC hit the market. Now there's QLC as the consumer chases cheaper options and drives out higher quality products. You can still find MLC (uncommon unfortunately) but practically never find SLC because people aren't willing to pay for it even though it's king for reliability. TLC is as low as I go though.
