That's $8 more than what OP posted... Did I miss something?

Just as a heads up, these have been recently reported to start failing and locking it down to read only for some users. Samsung released a firmware update to prevent this so might want to do that beforehand.

Some people would rather order from Amazon than from NewEgg, even for $8 more.

Highly recommend you guys go with the Hynix P41 platinum. The 980 pro model is now known to have major issues and has been dropped as a brand to buy by a major company

Indeed, I believe that was a SMART reporting issue (not real, physical wear on the memory cells) due to a firmware bug, which Samsung says has been fixed through an update.

So, if you buy this drive, just make sure to update the firmware, and you should be good to go, according to Samsung.

PS: Please do some research before buying. Manufacturers almost always downplay and misdiagnose product defects, placing the burden on the consumer.

PPS: For the average consumer, this item is overpriced, IMO.

That's the 990 Pro, the 980 Pro had had issues with going into read only causing the drive to fail. But that's older firmware that they fixed in newer thingy.

I suggest the SN850X. slightly cheaper and about the same speeds iirc.

I just bought a 2TB SK hynix Platinum P41 for this price from Amazon a week ago from Amazon. I would wait till those are back in stock or get something else from a reputable company. Getting drives that have already had a big issue (even if it's fixed) from a seller that's iffy at best, I'd choose something else personally.
