I have 3 of these connected to a MBPro with the M1 Max processor. 2 are connected through a CalDigit TS3 Plus, and one is connected directly. I have occasional flickering issues with the one directly connected, and nothing I can do makes it stop. It just stops flickering after some time, but I don't know what causes it to stop. The Dell documentation says it's due to the 40-60Hz VRR setting on Mac and that changing it to 60Hz will fix it, but this is not true. The problem will even persist for some time after disconnecting the monitor. They have replaced it once but the new one is doing the same. I just deal with it for now, but I wouldn't recommend this for M1 Mac users. Not sure if the dock helps, but I haven't had issues with the 2 connected through the dock.

On the hunt for a monitor but I don't plan on going back to 60hz.

Not necessarily. I notice a smoothness with 170hz when with web browsing or general desktop usage that's a lot more satisfying.

yeah unless you using multiple monitors or devices in front of you to compare average person only notice less than like 10fps as not smooth hence why 24fps films have been around forever and worked and looked just fine!

That being said if it doesn't bother you much, or isn't noticeable then it doesn't hurt to save money and get 60HZ. Especially since any 120Hz+ 4K monitor will command a price almost twice of this one currently.
I agree, ill never go back to 60hz, but comparing a monitor to a touch screen smart phone is silly. You absolutely benefit from high refresh on a touch screen to have no delay while sketching, or simply scrolling on a page.

Dell's naming convention is so weird. This is IPS, but the exact same 32" model is VA? You'd think they'd differentiate somewhat…

Good to know it isn't just me.

I bought 2 of these to use with my 16" M1 Pro and powered through a thunderbolt 3 --> dual HDMI adapter and it's always my right monitor that will start to flicker. I've already had 2 replaced by Dell as I assumed it was a defect (it would flicker even when not connected to anything, the little dell screen when something isn't plugged in would flicker) but it does appear this monitor does not fully play well with macs. I thought it was a myth because why wouldn't an HDMI monitor work...well I have my answer.

While I love the monitor when it works, I feel like it's a waste of money otherwise because the flicker will likely come back.

No, I wouldn't recommend this with the new mac laptops.

Depends on your use case. The LG is 1440p, whereas the Dell is 4K. I have a LG 4K ergo and a LG Ultragear 1440p next to each other. I prefer the 4K for watching movies or working on graphics/video. LG's ergo stand is by far the best monitor mount I've ever used. It is smooth, doesn't wiggle too much, and is overall very stable.

I have this S2721QS and have been pleased with it.

I use it as a second monitor for productivity, watching baseball/soccer matches, 4K YouTube videos, etc (no gaming though)

For my purposes, I am happy with this purchase.

The 4k is $500 vs the 1440p being $300. Not sure I can justify $200 more for one monitor when my other 32" 1440p have been ok thus far.

I just bought two of these from Micro Center for the same price. So far they are working great. I love how sharp everything is when scaled on a 4k monitor. The other perk is the built in speakers. Sure they aren't great, but they are nice to have when you don't want to clutter the desk with external speakers.
