Its basically a mini pc thats ultra portable with a screen attached. With 30w apu nothing is going to blow up if you are concerned. lol
Asus AM5 motherboards got tons of glowing reviews by reviewers when they launched late last year, and now everybody hates them now that they found out they are contributing to AMD CPUs burning up and failing. Similarly the 7900 XTX had positive reviews before launch by reviewers, and once units actually shipped to consumers people found out the cold plates were defective and a ton of units were overheating badly.
'its basically a mini PC with a screen attached', which means there are hundreds of things that could fail or be defective... Nintendo who has been making video game systems for decades couldn't even produce working controllers for the Switch. This is Asus' first attempt at a product like this.. You can be the beta tester of it. I will gladly wait a few weeks to see how it actually turns out.
For those of you signing up for bestbuy credit card, do they offer any perks? If it was 5% off every purchase like target red card, I'd consider it but if it doesn't, seems rather wasteful to sign up for another credit card just to save $70.
The other handhelds with gyro that have been around for almost 2 years now still don't have windows support so I wouldn't hold my breath.
At max power 20-25W, you'll eek out 1.5-2 hours
At low power 8-10W, which handles all emulation and most games, you'll get a solid 4-5 hours like a steam deck. Turbo mode at 15W delivers a fairly standard 2.5 hours.
A flash in the pan with awful battery life. I'll stick with Steam Deck, which has far better first-party and third-party better support.
I wish i could sell both handheld somewhere

I think they're trying to market to both PC and Console (like Xbox Play Anywhere), but I don't know why they just don't go full windows and ditch the xbox.
PC's are getting smaller and smaller, and like this device you can actually run windows on it with decent performance.
If you ask me, it's time to retire xbox just like Nintendo did ... just my 2c
