If you have the Best Buy credit card, use code APR24EMOB25 for 10% off, $630 isn't too bad.

This one (Z1 Extreme) is the one to get. Don't get me wrong, the base Z1 seems superb compared to Steam Deck's comparable 512GB version, but damn, the Z1 Extreme is hitting 1080p/120fps in games like Forza and 60fps in RDR2, craziness.

Usually the first batch of YouTube reviews would tend to praise a product at launch as those are from privileged reviewers who receive a free unit from the marketing department of a vendor. I'm waiting for real end user reviews to see if I'd get one myself or invest in upgrading the 64GB SSD on my Steam Deck. If the Ally had a touchpad and ran Steam OS it would be closer to a perfect handheld gaming device, though today's battery tech would still cause concerns to some but it's the same issue no matter which device you pick.

I WANT this but I dont NEED this.... Looks really cool, I think I will wait for it to go on sale or maybe a open box from best buy.

Really do like this but with my gaming computer, my xbox, and my cellphone dont really need another form of gaming.
I pre-ordered. It's more powerful than my laptop, and I want to sell my PS5 anyway (giant dust-collector)
I keep the Switch for my kid, and I can get by with the Ally for gaming and docket as pc.

I honestly don't believe its stretching nor a conspiracy. It is well known that reviewers, Youtube or otherwise, lose access when they say too many bad things about products they have received early access to. Sometimes companies will be extra stupid and tell the reviewer they are dropped (see: NVIDIA and Hardware Unboxed). In this case, I don't think ASUS paid Linus, because he's pretty staunch on running a legal business and following disclosure rules about sponsorship. But rather, he has to worry about ASUS not inviting his team to the ROG lounge at CES next year for instance.

Jay2centz dropped them as a sponsor. So either YT channels are afraid of losing money and are lying or they are telling you what they mostly think. Now to clarify, I understand there are companies who pay for positive reviews. I'm not naïve. In this particular case, specific to this product, some people have already made up their mind about it and are reaching to justify it anyway they can.

For me it's the price. Show me the Z1 non extreme model for 400$ and then we can start talking. For the cost of one Ally Z1 Extreme edition you can buy a Nintendo Switch Lite, a PS5 digital edition, and a years worth of PS+ Extra membership.
There's no way this could ever happen in this or the next couple of generations. If you look up any other handhelds from Aya, Ayn, GPD, etc. The highest end handhelds can't touch this performance for the price, even on the lower end model. 700 Bucks is a no-brainer for what you're getting. A new 6800U apu handheld (which was the king until this Z1 was announced) went for 1000+ prior to this. The ability to emulate any switch game at a higher resolution on something like Yuzu and higher frame rate, as well as play most AAA games at 2X the FPS or quality of the deck is worth the price of admission, imo. If you want a lower-cost handheld, you're looking at the lower-tiered deck or an Aya Air, and the latter will not get this level of performance. This can emulate everything, just about.

The asus issues are more related to their sh!tty handling of BIOS updates specifically for newer ryzen X3D CPU's. This device is relatively unrelated. If they continue support for their custom software, I think this will likely be the handheld to beat, price and performance-wise.

Smoking hot deal assuming the board on this thing doesn't cause the CPU to start melting
You can look at the reviews, the fans (there are two) are whisper quiet and it stays relatively cool.

I'm getting this for the same reason I got the OLED switch, better screen. The one on the Steam Deck is not terrible but it's not great either, just meh. I mean of all the screens in the world Valve couldn't source a better panel than the one we got? Even my cheap Motorola phone has better colors than the Deck.
Decky loader and Saturation mod are an easy install and make the Deck look 200% better if you increade the saturation but 40% or so. Easy fix. But the Ally's color accuracy beats the deck handily.

Yes, you can use any USB-C adapter to output to a display, and add USB and network ports. This can be utilized as a dedicated computer, as it's full Windows 11.

I just had 12+ hard pulls in the last 2 years. 7 in the last year and on my current report.

Still have 755 credit score. It can lower it but not as much like another poster said.
If some of those pulls were for the same thing (like 3-5 comparable for shopping car loan options, etc.), they do get lumped into a single pull in their algorithm).

They are not and similar pulls to count as a single needs to occur within a specific timeframe of each other

I've only been pairing my 64GB SD with 512GB microSD cards. Thinking of switching to using a 1TB intetnal SSD instead to hold games I play most often so I won't need to swap SD cards.

Even newer handheld PC devices coming in the future will always not run every latest AAA games well. So my thought was to first decide if the games I wanted to play would run well on a device. If they do that's enough to make a purchase decision. As such, I see the 399 SD model still has no competition and could be the best buy for some people.
I'm very risk adverse about opening up a Deck for a SSD swap out. Working with microSD cards by itself still works well?

Anyone else had an order cancelled? I tried to order 2 units on separate orders, appears the minions behind the scenes cancelled the second one.
