If you have the Best Buy credit card, use code APR24EMOB25 for 10% off, $630 isn't too bad.

This one (Z1 Extreme) is the one to get. Don't get me wrong, the base Z1 seems superb compared to Steam Deck's comparable 512GB version, but damn, the Z1 Extreme is hitting 1080p/120fps in games like Forza and 60fps in RDR2, craziness.

Usually the first batch of YouTube reviews would tend to praise a product at launch as those are from privileged reviewers who receive a free unit from the marketing department of a vendor. I'm waiting for real end user reviews to see if I'd get one myself or invest in upgrading the 64GB SSD on my Steam Deck. If the Ally had a touchpad and ran Steam OS it would be closer to a perfect handheld gaming device, though today's battery tech would still cause concerns to some but it's the same issue no matter which device you pick.

ETA prime clearly showed it doing both things in his review.

Only reason I'm passing is the fact that they excluded USB4 for their overpriced proprietary eGPU solution
How can this run Forza 5 at 120fps 1080 when my desktop 3070ti isn't even benchmarked that high? There is no way unless you are running a very low quality

No, it has a 500-nit max brightness 1080p LCD that can run up to 120Hz refresh rate and supports VRR (variable refresh rate). The VRR support is the first I have heard of in a handheld gaming device, and, to me, is a pretty big deal. Personally, I'd take a very good VRR LED display over an OLED for a gaming handheld.
I want an Oled to match my Vita and Switch. I play them outside.

Jay2centz dropped them as a sponsor. So either YT channels are afraid of losing money and are lying or they are telling you what they mostly think. Now to clarify, I understand there are companies who pay for positive reviews. I'm not naïve. In this particular case, specific to this product, some people have already made up their mind about it and are reaching to justify it anyway they can.
I get your point on people having made their minds up already. I do believe people should try to find out on their own still (assuming its within their means to do so). I heard a great quote the other day about the Ally (and holds true for a lot of things): "you can't play a spec sheet". That's why I preordered it, because maybe I will love it, or maybe I will dislike Windows but HoloISO will work great on it, or maybe I will miss a bunch of the features that are on the Steam Deck. It's really hard to say until its actually in my hands especially with this market in its relative infancy and my current data point being just one handheld. And I can always return it if I'm not satisfied.

I've been watching this device, and it sounds very compelling... but I'm going to hold off on the pre-order until I find out for sure that they fixed the stuck buttons. Youtube reviewers are saying that they were promised the device they received already fixed the issue, but the buttons were still sticking. I don't care how good the specs are if you can't trust the input buttons.
FWIW, the Deck also had some early molding clearance issues that would cause the B buttons to stick. I sent mine in and they replaced the button board which fixed the issue. So hopefully a fix would be similar for the Ally. However, I've heard ASUS's support reputation is less than stellar. I've been fortunate that my ASUS devices haven't needed a support call yet though.

500 nits not enough to play outside in a sunny day.

Had a steam deck for a couple months the amount of work arounds needed to play games off other launchers is insane I don't use steam so pretty much all my games, I sold it knowing something like this was going to drop. Also battery life was garbage thing was huge and awkward, this is the move

Lol what? Cyberpunk (for example) on the steam deck drains your battery in an hour. What are you on with that nonsense...?
Then go ahead and pay more for a handheld that gives you maybe an hour more if the claims are true and still doesn't have much third party support. Your choice.

Pretty much. This is an opportunity to try it out and see for yourself. Some people are stubborn and will hate on a company or hardware for emotional reasons more than logical ones.

Is anyone getting the error stating both promos codes
Listed on the first page of this deal no longer working? I've tried both codes (Apr/May), but I keep getting the error saying the code was not valid?

Wasn't meant to be then, damn. Guess I'll just have to keep my Steamdeck for now…

This is misleading, Diablo doesn't work with steam OS by default (no battlenet for Linux afaik). Diablo certainly works on the steam deck with Windows installed, I regularly play D2R and played D4 beta on my win11 steam deck.
Ok, that makes more sense. Thanks.
