You can just get a Minisforum mini PC for $579 (now $506 - see below). Comes with the latest AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, 32GB DDR5, 1TB NVMe 4.0 SSD, Triple 4K display out, a ton of USB ports, including a USB4 port. It even comes with a Windows 11 Pro license.

Unless you really need a Mac, I'd go with the above. Much better machine for almost the same price. You can the same specs from other manufacturers for even less, but Minisforum is a well known brand in the mini PC scene.

Edit: As another user kindly pointed out, the Minisforum PC I listed above is just $506 with coupon now. absolutely insane deal for so much power in such a small package.

Same price at Costco so a slightly better deal if you have membership since they extend the warranty for an extra year.

Hey do you have first hand experience with this?
I plan to host my own cloud storage, home assistant core etc therefore it will be running 24x7.
Does anyone trust this for such a purpose?
Also, this will be perfect as a cloud storage machine. You can pick up a Samsung 8TB 2.5" SSD for around $350 + tax after CB (I commented on it in the thread on the Samsung 8TB QVO drive), plus another 4TB NVMe for $190. So for under $550, you can add 12TB of storage to the UM773. All in, you are looking at a Mini PC with 32GB of RAM, a fast CPU + iGPU, USB4 port, 5X USB 3 ports, triple 4K display outputs, 12TB SSD for $1050. Try that with Apple. Haha.

Decided to give a try. Worst case, Amazon returns are easy.

That's great. Let me know how it goes. I am also thinking about picking up one of these or similar at some point.

Amen. 8GB RAM in 2023 is ludicrous.
Dude, this machine is aimed at poor people. If you want more, you can buy the more expensive 16gb machine. Please stop asking Apple to remove the cheaper option.

Amen. I have never used a Mac since grade school and Oregon trail and now with these entry machines, it gets me to at least think about trying it out.

poor people and aimed at Land Fill

these should not be produced; many don't understand that these are soldered in ram/SSD et al so no upgrades. even the windows world has resorted to this non sense on the Low End. attaching 'Cool' to this kind Landfill doesn't change what it is.

quite a few articles on this horrible practice, buying this Land Fill just encourages them....

from medium.com

Soldered Parts Are Horrible for Users and the Environment
And we shouldn't encourage the practice any more.

Soldering components is bad for the environment

Whenever Apple — or any other company that does this — claims to be a good steward of the environment, I chuckle. Not because I don't believe that they believe they are, but because their actions and their words don't always align. And to be clear, I'm not speaking here only of Apple but also of Dell, Lenovo, Asus, and every other manufacturer that sees fit to solder components that should be user-serviceable.

1 — Devices with soldered components that should have been made to be fixable, are thrown away instead.
I'm someone who likes to keep technology around until it fails. As a matter of fact, I have a couple of machines that are, in computer years, ancient. But they're still kicking. Sure, some parts have been replaced along the way, but the machines themselves? They've avoided the landfill so far.
If all RAM, storage and other important parts were soldered in, I'd likely have had to get rid of those machines long ago.
