Solid deal, might have been tempted to go 2X R3 (LF) + R2C + Q150 surrounds if this deal was available a while back. Pretty happy with my 5X Q150.
I also did 5x Q150s a few years ago. The sound fantastic. The detail is amazing. The ONLY downside is that I can really notice the difference between well mastered and poorly mastered audio tracks.
Fantastic deal! The KEF R11's were in my setup before I went all-in on a $30K McIntosh/Revel setup. The F328's at $18K are excellent but pricey. For the price (4/5k) the R11's were a good compromise towards the REF 5's but couldn't rival 800-series B&W and Revels.
My PC speakers are KEF LS50WII's and haven't found anything better yet.
Thanks for the tip on open box. Often forget that option with BB. So I looked and found that a nearby BB has R3 open box for around $650. Says they're in OK condition. Hmmmm. I pulled the trigger and will check them out. If they are in acceptable condition, I'll save the money and return the fresh R3s.
but after you return them, they will be available as open box excellent!

What % of the sound of the F328 would you say the R11 delivering? Have heard good things about it, but it's big. I've heard 800-series B&W at Best Buy playing Inception soundtrack "Time". It cast a pretty big and dynamic sound, plenty of detail. But I hear they are on the bright side and can be fatiguing.
LS50/W are great for near field, so ideal as PC speakers, I just couldn't handle the risk of the electronics going bad, as I've read plenty of reports, so went with passives.
Be very wary of Best Buy packaging. I bought an open box (satisfactory) item for pickup and they included the flimsiest of boxes and a handful of large bubble wrap. It was very visibly damaged as the driver housing was indented
I purchased open boxed (Excellent condition) delivered and it was utterly wrecked . The UPS guy was shocked at it too. It was crushed because there was almost no packing material and there was bare speakers inside. Huge gaping holes everywhere.
Again I must ask, why are these things so expensive? What do you hear in these that you can't hear from $100 to $300 bookshelves?
Well the average person would probably be perfectly satisfied with the KEF Q150 which is $299 when on sale. As you go higher in price, there are obviously diminishing returns. It makes sense to go higher if you have a dedicated set-up. This is pricey, but not even close to the most expensive, still.

That's like asking why to pay more for a Ferrari when Ford is 10th the price? They both take you to the same place. How much more can you possibly enjoy the Ferrari, when both take you to the same place
Oh man I just realized the R2C is also on sale (only noticed the R3 in the title and post)... this makes me sad, could've saved an additional $200 but I'm just 4 days outside the return/price adjust window .

Remember the good old days when credit cards did price matching? 👀 Miss those days haha 😄

Speak to bestbuy, they can do this as a goodwill gesture

You know that's funny because as I was being denied by Best Buy on live chat (understandable, I'm outside the window), I was also Googling - AMEX price protection. I remember having it on the card years ago and I know they took out that benefit, but still had hope.

I have not the capability to comprehend how a pair of bookshelf speakers might sound good enough to justify costing $2,200 ... unless they had an ounce of 24k gold wire in them.

I have LS50's (original) and they're great. I mostly listen at low levels, but I do turn it up a bit now and then and that's when the 50's disappoint.
I'm expecting the R3's to fix that.
I had a pair of KEF Reference One's for many years and should never have sold them.
Based on what? They have speakers are many price points, including a model that's regularly on sale for under $500
