The guys in the audio section seemed like dicks. They didn't even want to mark them down to the 775 price that it was showing online. Let alone to go lower then that.
I currently am running Klipsch KF-28 which I purchased probably a decade or so ago.
I've always seen KEF deals come and go and see a lot of hype for them.
On a scale of 1-10, how blown away am I going to be if I upgrade from my Klipsch setup to the KEF R7?
I am expecting answers of 11 or more of course, but appreciate any real feedback.
I may just go ahead and drive to my local Best Buy in hopes that they have some out to listen to.
[edit] Ok, so maybe actually sold out haha?
It seems like it's back in stock. I would say this is a definite and considerable upgrade. Specially for music listening. You should find them more detailed but at the same time less harsh. If you have proper positioning and decent room acoustics, you should also feel much better soundstage. Having said this, take into account I'm talking about the speaker's capabilites, if the source or the amp are not good enough, ypu won't be able to get the most out of them. Also, Klipsch are horn speakers, which have a considerably different sound profile, so in that regard, it comes down to personal preference.

Thank you for the helpful reply!
Would a quality preamp with these be helpful?

I would say decent preamp and DAC (if listening to digital) is OK, but the amplifier should be be either good or great. Some speakers are more demanding than others when it comes to amplification, but rule of thumb, I would get something better than your average AV receiver. Stereo amplifiers (integrated or not) that cost tge same as said receivers should be an acceptable starting point.

If I were to just stick with a nice receiver, would my current HTR-7065 fit the bill, or would I:be best served upgrading?
If I stay in the Yamaha family, would any of their products fit the bill, if an upgrade is needed? I'm guessing the answer is "yes"

Does your receiver have pre-outs? A good middle ground could be using your receiver as the preamp and add another power amp to power the fronts. That way you can use it for both home theater and stereo listening without compromising much.

I have LS50's (original) and they're great. I mostly listen at low levels, but I do turn it up a bit now and then and that's when the 50's disappoint.
I'm expecting the R3's to fix that.
I had a pair of KEF Reference One's for many years and should never have sold them.
Based on what? They have speakers are many price points, including a model that's regularly on sale for under $500

Looks like it's out again. Able to add to cart but on checkout it's out of stock. Amazon isn't showing stock either. ;(
I got R11s for $1200 each in excellent condition

It was a simple question to a specific person, not sure why it bothers other folks in the thread.
