I could afford $300 for a 5800x3d, but I also seek good value.
Right now you can get a B550 board between 110-130. Your gonna be spending minimum 200-250$ for an AM5 motherboard and 300$ for a cpu.
Like not even close money wise
But there's many guys running first and second gen ryzen who already have an x370 board or b450 or something and this is a cheap upgrade

If you already have a GPU this is not a good buy. Spend a little more and get the regular 5600. Not the G.
Then I checked for a AM5 MB and found B650M-HDV/M.2 AMD AM5 microATX Motherboard for $120 and the cheapest AM5 CPU Ryzen 5 7600 Raphael AM5 3.8GHz 6-Core Boxed Processor - Wraith Stealth Cooler Included for $210
So I guess I answered my own question. If you go to MC and garb this cpu, you can get that sub $50 MB. Too bad I cant find a MB for a 1600AF that is in my parts shelf.

With a 3060 TI, most gaming isn't going to be affected too much. If I remember correctly, Battlefield does benefit from better processors, but for most games it won't matter.
I'd skip any cpu with a "G" at the end because the processor is nerfed for the on-chip graphics.
A 5600 is great for gaming and has been this low before, without having important gaming qualities nerfed. 5600x is essentially the same processor.
5800x3d is bar none the best gaming cpu for AM4.
I wouldn't spend $150 on a half step measure for real gaming gains, and just spend the full $300 all at once to be gaming full throttle for longer, and not have to wonder about what you compromised on.

I've seen the 5600 run with an rtx 3080 and not have a cpu bottleneck so the 3060 is more than capable to run with a 5600. I would agree the non G model is the way to go

I've seen the ryzen 5600 non G and non X model get paired up with an RTX 3080 and it didn't bottleneck the cpu. So if you have a 3060 the 5600 would be a nice upgrade.
The 5800x3d would only make sense if you have an RTX 3090 or 4090

Pretty sure the 5800x3d helps in all situations because of the special cache, and really only for gaming. It helps less at 4k than it does at 1080p, but the bottom line is it has a special feature specifically for gaming, and can probably help any gpu.
There are no modern processors that will be a cpu bottleneck if you run them at anything above 1080p.
1080p has essentially been "conquered" unless you're in esports trying to get megaframes at 1080p

You can actually pickup Newegg bundles starting with the 7600/b650 for $325 and 7770/b650 and 7700/b650/32GB for $475.

You can't find a b350/450 mobo for the 1600af?
But TECHINCALLY all AM5 chips are apus as they come with integrated graphics like Intel. The graphics just don't offer a decent out of the box experience like AM4.
