The Ryzen GPU version with the 6800s is amazing because it lets you plug in USB-C PD and game on that with the onboard GPU and it will figure out how to distribute what power is available.

Wonderful for long plane rides, RVs, etc where PD is 100w or less and anything more than 150w will trip a fuse.

I imagine this with the Nvidia can't have that sort of flexible power usage.

I wonder if the 2022 6700s or 6800s version will go back on sale and if so, when. It seems like those are better value than this 2023 rtx4060 model.

Yeah or I can just buy a G14 that lasts longer, is far, far faster, has a much larger screen, can do work on, watch movies, etc.

Can any owners of this 2023 G14 comment on how it operates with gaming on pd 100w power?

I recently bought the 2022 g14 with the 6700s ($811 open box, in perfect shape) and have been traveling with it for a week. Pd gaming is good but gets really rough when the battery drops below about 12%. RE Village plays at 1440p at high settings around 70 fps with FSR on. Control plays at 1080p with medium settings (high texture) at about 60 fps but will drop to 30 fps.

Basically games with FSR do very well and others stutter, at least on my machine. I'd probably suck it up and buy this 4060 machine if it games well on pd power.

Thanks... I'm opting to wait a bit.... both are hdmi 2.0 unfortunately. Some of the games I'll be playing like (Quake remake) are 4k/120hz and either laptop has the power to take it there, but they don't have HDMI ports that can pass it to a better external monitor.

Yes, of course. But these laptops cost a lot more than a base steam deck and fill a different role. I wouldn't make a handheld PC my dedicated computer.

4060 is barely an improvement over 6700s, better off just finding the 6700s variant for $1k on sale at Best Buy or, as others have done, an open box model for around ~$800. Much better bang for buck. Search YouTube for the comparison if you don't believe me.

I generally agree with this based off what I've read, though I wonder how much frame generation in DLSS 3 will be helpful long term. Your thoughts?

This laptop is the right size and weight I'm looking for. I'm not keen on the white color, but my wife would love it.

Isn't RTX 4060 basically the same as 3060? Better off getting the 3060 model for $800, as per a past deal.
