Yes and no. Not everyone needs a 2TB to get a better cost per MB. I think, for a quality SSD like this at $37, it's an awesome deal. You might find some Chinese SSD cheaper, but for reliability, name brand, and good warranty, this is hard to beat.

In 4 months, BF deals might be better, but one can wait forever!

EDIT: If you don't like Newegg, Amazon [a.co] is has it (through Microcenter) for $39.99 with free overnight shipping for Prime people (at least for me). You need to click "See All Buying Options" button on the right and look for $39.99 New from Microcenter.
I don't know why you're comparing both. They're in different tiers. Why would you ever compare Lambo to Corolla lmao

for 2TB: SN850X ATL is $90 vs $70 for 670p
$20 is a 30% bump in price

for 1TB: $37 vs $55, $18 diff is 50% price bump

the % differences are so big you really have to justify the upgrade. Is this a high performance gaming machine w/ gen4? Sure, sn850x. Low powered Celeron minipc with only gen3 support or for use in an external SSD enclosure? Hard to beat this.
$25 bucks and I'm in...

This would have been a good deal like 1-2 months ago but now a days the 670p is considered a deal if it's under $30 per TB when you consider that everyone who bought this in the last 30-60 days already sent it back for better deals (like the 2 TB SN850X for under $80). Now a days you can buy better NVMes than this for either the same price or a few dollars more.

not to mention everyone is now waiting on the 970 Evo Plus to drop down to this price range.

Starting to get nervous I'm not jumping on these deals (don't need them). I was procrastinating the same way right before the Thailand flood hard drive shortages.

I have a gaming desktop and work laptop both are gen 3. I had two 2 TB 670p when they were $67 and $70 and I sent them both back for two 2 TB SN850X (around $75 for each one).

The SN850X not only let's me max out Gen 3 speeds but also enables Game Mode and gives me the flexibility to use it now and then when the 970 Evo Plus drops to this price range I can use them as external drives on PC or put one into my PS5 and use the second one as an external drive for either the PS5/XSX. Either way I win now with the SN850X and then with that flexibility I can use them for something else until my PC is upgraded to Gen 4-5.

but with the 670p your not even maxing out Gen 3 speeds, can't use them on PS5/XSX and less durability than the SN850X with no Game Mode either.

Your story is all well and good, but without a time machine, how can we get a SN850X for around $75 now?

Simple you wait for the SN850X or 970 Evo Plus (or any gen 4 with DRAM and good TBW) to drop to this price range.

I am soooo conflicted on stuff like this because I do not understand when/why the price is going to shift like crazy

6 months ago I could buy a reputable 700W PSU (EVGA 700 BQ) for $50. Good luck with that now

Deals are out there. Just need to setup alerts and load up. Snagged a few MSI 480 2TB for $60 with rebate. It's only a matter of time with current SSD prices about to be crushed. Sky Hynix has been mass producing 238-layer NAND since last month.

A great drive for many use-cases; I love this for physical backup disc for the fire-proof safe.

Percentage wise the difference is large. But what's $20 over 5+ years of usage? You could save that difference very easily any number of ways
