Great price. If you need a 2TB, get it.
If you already have a 2tb drive, save your money and wait for a 4tb.

Yes it is true that this gen 3 is not as fast as a gen 4. But if your system is only capable of gen 3, there is no reason to spend more for the "faster" gen 4 because youll be capped at gen 3 speeds anyways.

It's like pumping 93 octane in to your car when it's designed for 87 octane. It's a waste of money but you are free to do it if you want.

The PS5, it's like a high-end turbocharged sports car. It needs that Gen 4 drive much like that turbocharged car requires 93 octane gas. The PS5 would reject a Gen 3 drive outright and 87 octane fuel would actually cause damage.

This drive at $75 and the Intel 670p 2TB at $70 are both good choices.

Both have DRAM. They're comparably fast.

The TBW spec for the 670p is 740TB. The TBW for the Samsung 970 EVO is 1200TB. I'd bet there's not a person on this forum who will reach either limit before replacing the drive at some point, but if you care, the Samsung has a higher limit.

Both have 5 year warranties.

Intel is QLC it will slow down drastically as it fills up.

Help guys, I have a 3050ti legion 5600h laptop, I have a measly 500gb ssd or 256gb I forget. anyway looking to upgrade, got 2 options im interested in

I am leaning towards Samsung because I like Samsung as a brand. 2tb 970 evo plus 75 dollars or 2tb 670p for 70 dollars. price dont matter, they are close.

Which is going to run better inside my laptop? I read the 970 is a hot beast, but if the 670 is a lot cooler, going that route.

Just go with the Samsung. Running hot doesn't necessarily mean it would get your laptop hotter, thats just the heat density of the chips. Its still way less than 1w when idle (I read 30mW) and 4-5 at load. It would be rare that it is at full load in a laptop too.
