Wow, these deals keep getting better. This is still one of the better drives on the market even though its Gen 3. If you need an OS drive or extra space for games on your PC, you won't notice a difference between Gen 3 v Gen 4 speeds.

The main exception is if you're a video editor and are copying large files all day...that's where the faster Gen 4 drives may make a difference.
WIth this drive for $75, and the Intel 670p 2TB (also with DRAM) for $70, I can't understand why anyone is buying all those sketchy also-ran drives in that front page deal from the other day.

Black Friday might yield some good deals, but $60 plus tax on a 2 tb quality Samsung drive is a hot deal!

You not have the Discover percentage off on Black Friday. Plus we do t what type of drives will be on sale.

You have a bird in the hand right now, better than the 2 birds in the bush.

I bought the WD sn850x 1 tb (Gen 4, but I have a Gen 3 system) for $59.99 plus tax recently (regular price on Best Buy). Not a slickdeal, but employer paid for it. I should have waited a little more and got a 2 tb.

It just dropped to $74.30 at Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-97...XR1B/?th=1

I just got the 1TB from Amazon for $50 2 days ago and installed it yesterday which works great!

At this price I don't feel it's a good deal with pcie 3.0.

I'd rather spend the money on pcie 5.0 @ 12gb/sec.

Price is not low enough to use as a usb device.

Kinda hard to get this when we saw 2tb sn850x available for $90. It is only $15 more, gen 4 and way faster. I know most of us wont feel the difference, but $15 is less than the cost of one breakfast for most of us, I dont mind pay $15 more for a better drive.

It was was only during prime day, but we know that price was possible and it will surely come around again.

These posts are all so conflicting because I have a system with a 1tb nvme, 1tb ssd, and 2tb platter drive. I don't need more space but the price is tempting. Figured I would upgrade drives when I moved away from am4 but the 5800x is not a bad chip in anyway

I would get the Gen5 NVME for the 5800x. I just upgraded to the 7950x3d AM5. I purchased 4x Crucial 1TB 12gb/sec drives. I am not sure why I got down voted for my earlier comment.

How hot does this drive get? Thinking of replacing my laptop drive with this. Tyia.
I dont know but I do know that I tried the 970 evo (not plus) vs a hynix P31 gold in my laptop. The P31 gold ran just warm and the 970 evo was way hot. Supposedly the 970 evo plus is more efficient, so I dont know if the reports on the 970 evo running hot (yes) also included the 970 evo plus/

I was close to buying this drive, but decided to wait for the 980 pro or something else. The 970 series seems to run super hot. I'm seeing people report replacing their 970 with a 980 pro and getting much lower temps on the SSD with the same case and slot.

Seems like you can't use the 970 in a laptop without good air flow.
Are you referring to the 970 evo as running super hot and not the 970 evo plus? I can confirm the 970 evo running super hot, but I do not know about the 970 evo plus that is supposedly more efficient. Are you sure they were referring to the evo plus series?

Everything I read is that the plus runs really hot. I'm currently looking for a 2TB that won't be so hot in a laptop.
