Can anyone suggest a Windows laptop that might be equivalent price or better preferably at Costco? Been using a 2017 MB Air but on the fence between getting Air M2 or something Window though latter would be good for career as I transition to BI/analytics.
You'd want something like a ThinkPad: https://www.costco.com/lenovo-thi...48794.html

The M2 Air would still be more capable/faster (with better battery life and lower temps) but if you need a Windows machine, you can't go wrong with a ThinkPad most times.

Thanks, that's more than I want to spend at the moment. I had been looking at older Thinkpads & MacBooks but leery of buying used.

I have a $300 Costco card so was hoping something in $900 range which with card would come to around $600ish.

Stalk outlet.lenovo.com. I scored a refurb T14 gen 2 i7 w/ 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD for $360ish plus tax. Prestine condition and 1yr warranty like new but I'm returning it because I bought the new Air instead. I already have a Windows laptop and primarily use macOS so this made more sense.

I just ordered the m1 from costco for $750. Is it worth $150 to upgrade to m2?
I am not playing games nor video editing.
M2 isn't worth the 150. However you will need to upgrade the m1 in 2030. So if you want to upgrade in 2031 get an m2 else save the 150 and buy a m6 when the m7 or m8s are out.

From a 2017, an m1 is a huge upgrade. You don't need an m2.

Honestly download power bi and tableau and have bing and bard teach you how to use python. You could be coding tomorrow if you wanted. Have bingGPT give you a lesson plan and do sessions daily. Targeted focused practice is the best way to become a master. Have GPT evaluate your code and viz then give you feedback on what you wrote. You can accelerate your learning using GPT.

If you decide you need a new computer, get a refurbished one from apple. That's where we buy all ours. Mac mini M2 16gb will be more than enough. Keep your mba if you want portability once you have a mini.

I just received a price adjustment for the M2 Air I bought last week, per Best Buy's price protection policy. Was super easy to do through BestBuy chat. Thanks OP!

Would this be able to handle virtual machines with 8gb I don't have the $ for the 16gb. I'm just starting school for Cybersecurity and will be doing a lot of labs. I already have a windows laptop but I keep hearing how great the MacBooks are. I want something to last me thru school and into my career hopefully.

No matter what mantra apple fans always repeat, realize that you are shelling out $900 + tax for a laptop that only has 8GB of RAM in 2023.
Enjoy your sluggish 64gb of memory android fone 🫡😶 🌫️.

Good reason to dump the apple ecosystem.
16 GB would have increased the price by $10 and give your mac many more years of service. Is $909 a deal breaker?
The only thing green about apple is their GREED.
What laptop are u using. Spec and prive you spent

It's not slow, you should try it.
You won't notice the missing $1,000 on the $250 android phone except for the extra $1000 in your wallet.

Woot has the M1 chip 2020 version with otherwise identical specs for $650 refurbished. Better deal IMO as the difference between M1 and M2 is not noticeable in real world use.
