Also make sure that you have a full 13.5" if clearance in your top to bottom. Forgot about the lip and had to remove some hardware to get it to be tall enough.

For what it's worth, the installation for this unit is MUCH more involved than a traditional window unit. Worse yet, the unit is more square shaped, compared to the rectangular shape of traditional window units. Or at least compared to the units I've owned over the years.
I had to take my window apart in order to get this unit seated properly, since my window did not open far enough normally. Took about two hours of work.
And, as for the window "almost closing", there's still a 3-4" gap left at the bottom of the U shape. Don't get me wrong, it's better than a traditional window unit, but I also wouldn't call the window "almost closed".
I'm happy it's installed, but had I known what was involved and the end result, I probably would have just stayed with the old AC I had.
I got mine like a decade ago for $15, they seem more expensive now. I might suggest the newer "ez" read display version to hopefully not have to get eye-level with the meter some 16" off the ground to read it.
There are probably alternatives now that are a lot more readable with a display that doesn't have restrictive viewing angles though, so I wouldn't necessarily fault someone for trying an "amazon special" alternative. You can probably find some youtuber promoting them to get an idea of how they work, and most of them probably come from the same place nowadays.
I think it was discussed earlier in this thread, or another recent Midea thread - but there can be an part of the min/max range that can resonate with window/wall causing a kind of pulsating noise like a distant helicopter.. but it likely depends on your window/walls. For me, it's not typically part of the ranges mine usually runs at.
There's another manufacturer making Inverter window ACs that are just the normal rectangular cut out that would be easier to deal with for horizontal sliders than this.
UPDATE: Never mind, it was my VPN it didn't like.

I can tell with the inverter technology it does not spike the power as bad.
