read the reviews. if you use this a lot and are rough with it the thin plastic housing will crack and break.
Also I've had great burst writes but writing any large files takes foreverrrrr on this drive.
The write speeds are abysmal. I the 128gb version and it's useless. If you want to copy a movie it can take from 30 to 40 minutes.

Spend the extra (or wait for a sale) on one of the Samsung options. The Samsung Bar is great and crazy fast for its size.

I bought this the last deal and I would not recommend it at all. Sequentials are fine but random 4K writes are abysmal, at <10KB/s.

Quote from DerekKan :
i have this one, it's just small, but performance is so bad. I would suggest samsung bar plus. 10x faster.
While I have some issues with the Samsung BAR/FIT Plus lines, you're vastly underselling the performance difference. The Samsung drives can hit over 23MB/s random 4K writes. The SanDisk drive is lucky to hit 10KB/s. The Samsung drives are over 2,300 times (not percent!) faster in this regard.

For those unaware, random 4K is a very important metric. Unless you're only writing large files, you'll likely notice a huge difference in performance. Also, if you format the drive with a journaled filesystem (like NTFS or EXT4) it will further tank performance.

30mb write speed, til the plastic melts, and you're throttled over time, hate mine.

I tried to back up my phone. This thing got super hot, and didn't transfer at 3.1 speed. 2.0 speeds maybe

Is this for grilling? That's all mine is good for.

I transfer a file, yank it out, and put a chicken on top.

In 30 seconds I have blackened delicious pollo sandisko

I've had this exact issue happen on mine. However for the price, and the fact it lasted over two years before it cracked, I'm still going to buy another one. Even with the cracked plastic mine still works fine.

I have the 128Gb version and just tested sending a 3.9Gb file to it. The burst speed was 70Mb/s for the first 10 seconds then it settled out to a consistent 40 Mb/s, took less then 2 minutes for the file. Not super fast but still faster then most flash drives out there. Are you sure you guys are plugging it into a actual 3.0 or 3.1 port on your machine?

Also read speed is great at a consistent 120Mb/s. I use mine primarily for Windows installs so I rather have the fast read speed anyway and don't care that it takes me 6 minutes to copy a Windows ISO to it.

Quote from SeanFrank :
I actually think the cheapo NVME in an external case is the way to go. They are quite large in comparison to a flash drive, though. But I would try to get one with DRAM, to use in an external enclosure.
This is actually what I do for bigger stuff. I have a 512Gb NVMe in a USB 3.0 enclosure. Cost is obviously a lot more though, at least double but closer to quadruple what the same size USB stick would cost for a decent drive and enclosure.

Only 2 left at this price when I posted.... But it's ashame this product isn't better, such promise....Mght as well stick to Samsung FIT and Sandisk's other metal and/or cheaper bulkier ultra flash drives for general purpose.

Given the fact that the random write line isn't even visible on any of those benchmarks, I'm not sure I'd call it "lucky." 5.9 KB/s 4K random writes is just plain embarrassing, unfortunately in line with many other cheap flash drives.

You said it. Tho, to be fair, these were never meant to host vmdk's.. just dispossable sneakernet media.
