The U7K has a lot more zones (240 vs 128). The TCL also doesn't completely turn off the zones so you'll never get perfect inky black levels.
I've generally preferred the LD algorithm of Hisense over TCL - less black crush and better perceived contrast IMO (with the exception of the U6K which is horrible, so avoid that - the U6H or even U6G are better but only 60hz).
The R655 looks better in the rtings review but I don't know if black crush is still an issue - I noticed it on the R635 a couple of years ago.
Rtings R646 Series Review: 8.0/10 https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...-2021-qled
Pretty solid for a 2021 model even after being updated to Rtings latest v1.11 Test Bench.
Caveat seems to be bad sharpness processing with low-resolution / low-bitrate content.

Just got this yesterday. I love Amazon OS and I guess I'll get used to Google os- Google seems to have a better layout for what's on now and categories. 2 week return policy so I'll give it a try. I do have a fire stick 4k sitting in a drawer now so that's also an option. This tv is very clear and bright in my dark living room. Wifey says she can read the titles better.
The tv is great but the os is not the best. I have one and the black levels and performance… so good. Get an Apple TV or shield. 400 bucks is insane.
Is this TV likely to have a better deal during black Friday? These older 6-series/5-series TVs seem to be getting low on stock and I don't want to miss out on them because TCL's newer TVs don't seem as good. I want to get 2 matching TVs for my man cave. I've been kicking myself that I missed a black Friday deal last year when the 5-series 55" was on sale for $200 at best buy.
This might be the last of the R646 stock, might be even more limited when black friday rolls around. I bought this during the summer for $500 and I thought it was a deal. $400 is an amazing deal. Bugs and all its still better than the Q7 according to rtings.

I'm looking for a good 65" about 500. I want something better than the cheapest models but don't want to spend a ton.
Can wait until Black Friday
At that price and 65" I'd lean toward the U7H.
I don't know if the 65" U7K will go that low but the U7H may very well. The U7H was $519 a few weeks ago so it may very well go on sale again.
The U7K is the better TV overall but the U7H is actually slightly brighter. The U7H has poor out of box colors but you could probably input the rtings calibration settings and very likely get decent color without having to do a full professional level calibration.
The R646 of course is an option as well but as mentioned the LD didn't look very impressive to me (the old U7G also had similar issues - maybe even worse), the TV looks quite good otherwise.
The U6H is decent as well but it's not a good fit if you watch a lot of sports as it's 60hz so it will likely have motion issues, it's also dimmer compared to the older U6G/R and has less dimming zones.
I have a U6GR and have been happy with it for what it is, it can actually compare with my LG C2 in a lot of ways but of course the motion suffers due to the 60hz VA panel.
Great tv. I have the 65 version and I'm considering buying this for a smaller bedroom.
Bought this about a year ago for our basement remodel (almost done but still not yet lol) and we've had it in the bedroom in the meantime.
My wife doesn't give a crap about tech stuff but she LOVES this TV. As do I. Looks great across the board and is great for the current gen gaming consoles. This is well worth this price.
UI is solid and miles ahead of my Hisense AndroidTV that is a complete PITA. Every now and then Sling TV crashes but that's really it.

Purchased the 65 inch model last BF, great TV, Google tv is great. Only issues have been the inability to cast to it on e regular basis, off center picture degrades quickly, and it doesn't play well with Dolby Vision.
