1800r with a smaller monitor (this one) makes more sense for a PC gamer imo. Optimal viewing distance of a 49 inch 1800r is nearly 6 feet, which isn't practical

It includes DisplayPort. If you're pc gaming, you're using DisplayPort, right?
For consoles, they can only support 16:9 anyways, which would be 1440p 120hz, right?
I got the g9 OLED from the edu deal and it's a better monitor to me. Has HDMI 2.1 and can enable 12bit colors at 240hz HDR out of the box, if that matters to you.
Me too! Saw the $200 egiftcard but now debating what to buy as everything is overpriced at dell.
Amex has a $120 back on $600 @ Dell promo right now if you happen to have it to clip

I could live with the nerfed specs for the sale price, but there's this extremely irritating high pitched noise coming from my DWF, so both of my DWF's are going back to Dell.
I work hybrid schedule office/home and game some at night. I run it at HDR1000 or HRD True Black depending on my mood for brightness. It does its refresh during downtime.
The image quality is simply stunning.

As to your question, it's a matter of preference. Personally, I've had this 34" oled monitor, and I currently have the G9 (got the $804 SD that was recently posted). I personally actually prefer this 34" oled. The 49" to my eyes is too much, but I'm sure many would prefer it. I'm debating currently on what to do, as I'll need to either return the Samsung, or sell it private party.
Thank you for the kind words, I was one of the most avid posters and helped build the forums during the last decade or so. I organically found some of the hottest deals and notable gems that I shared to the SD community. Miss the ole days of true deals on the FP. I still follow SD and will always be a part of my journey
