Nonsense. Normal people who just use a computer don't backup data but anyone needing 18tbs knows how things work.

I would get this personally. While I don't subscribe to Seagate all being garbage, these WD that I've gotten have all been Helioseal drives (based on HGST designs) and have been cool, quiet, and fast. The initial ones were PWDIS which meant you had to tape the pin, cut it, or use an adapter, but the latest ones haven't been PWDIS so no issues.

Hey I'm bout to get 2 of these but I'm wondering what's the rpm speeds on these? Are they 7200? Or 5400? And would these be good for downloading pc games on and playing off the external drive?

Awesome deal but I don't need it and don't have the money for it at the moment.

Check your Amex offers.
I had a 25$ off 250$ purchase.

For people buying more than one...or willing to add a stocking stuffer 😉
$250 before tax, or after?

Which is better, this 18 TB or the 14 TB Seagate expansion desktop for $150? I will disassemble them and put them on a NAS.
Where can you buy the 14TB Seagate expansion desktop for $150?

18TB is a lot of data to lost if it fails at some point... good drive for data backups or porn collection Smilie
It may seem redundant and annoying when people make your point but I feel that it's good practice to keep mentioning that. Putting all your important data in one large drive that will fail at one point is a recipe for disaster.

My backup strategy is to automatically clone/image my 500GB main C drive once a week (Incremental weekly, full backup monthly). I then auto schedule clone/image the drive that contains my backup, emulators and games with the same cloning/imaging strategy to a separate drive via Macrium Reflect [macrium.com]. I've been doing this for years now.

The C drive contains all my important documents, photos ECT and the backup drive contains all my installed games and emulators. I only backup things that are important to me or took significant time installing and configuring properly.

As for my NAS video stuff; I consider all that crap disposable data that's easily obtainable. I''m not willing to spend thousands of dollars purchasing expensive Raid devices and redundant drives to back up crap TV shows like My Mother the Car or Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp. However I do backup/clone my music collection once a month as it took significant time to procure and curate my collection. Cool story, am I right Bro? laugh out loud

after tax.

It also says spend a minimum of 250$ in one or more transactions by 12/26 on mine. I didn't see that earlier so it can be spread over multiple purchases to reach the $250 as long as you have that offer.

I can't believe they accidently listed it for $120 a few weeks ago. What a score that was. Life is good. I was hoping they'd make the mistake a second time. laugh out loud

Almost all my Seagate USB external hard drive not working after few years. While almost all WD external USB hard drive still working after many years.

tbh I'd spend a little more to get a Seagate Exos drive since then you get an actual warranty for the intended use case (NAS). I bought two 20TB Seagate Exos X20 drives for $250 a few months ago, and the all time low is around $210. They'll probably go on sale again.

After WD's issues (first the SMR thing, then the more recent issue of flagging drives with warnings just because they were powered on for three years: https://www.pcworld.com/article/1...blems.html), I try to avoid them.
Hey are these good for playing pc games off of? What's the rpm speeds of these?

The PWL "feature" is annoying as hell. https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoar...tive_wear/. All of my recent easystore drives have it.

Does Best Buy still offer the deal to recycle your old drive and get a coupon for a new hard drive? It's been years since I did that with them.
