Dirac is better than the MCACC or AccuqEQ calibration software these receivers usually come with.

I've been using a Yamaha RX-V2085 for some years now and its done well I guess. I don't have an ear for audio but its the features (and how quickly the stuff becomes obsolete) that bothers me. Hopefully with the 4K/120 and VRR support I can actually plug things directly into the receiver again.
Curious to try a Pioneer receiver. Thanks for the deal!
Also, mainly thinking speaker placement wise, any recommend the VSX-LX505 deal over this?
Thanks!
Example, watching T2, 4k, it was very loud at volume level 26. With the 305, for that same decibel level, I have to have it around 18.
I have not set up dirac or done any other special calibration (did about the same with the 305 that I did with the 301)...but so far that is the only noticeable difference between the 2 that I have experienced in my very limited usage.

Only will do 5.1.2
Dirac intrigues me, but haven't bought a receiver in years so no brand allegiance though I've had 2 Yamahas. Passed on 2 Denon deals and the onkyo as well just because BF has been around the corner.
Only will do 5.1.2

You would be better off doing 5.1 then figure out if a proper 5.1.4 is possible in your environment.
2nd if I recall this receiver & the 505 do not support 3 pairs of object based speakers.

This may not be the best value.
Im not sure you will find a 7.2 with Dirac let alone for a value price.
