Not sure on your situation but I would suggest the capacitor version over the battery type.
The main problem with most dashcams is that you don't get parked protection unless you buy additional cables and gmhard wire which requires access to fuse panel and to know which fuses are switched which ones are not. Most new car brands may not have switched up fronts so if you wire to constant always on, then you also need low voltage cut off and the list goes on and on.They need to make better packages with these features built in.

My deductible was 1.5k at the time so this dash cam literally paid for itself multiple times over. It was the type of accident that without video evidence would have had to go to arbitration.
There is also the added benefit that when you catch a police officer not using his blinker, running stop sign, etc you can report them and hold them accountable. I've reported so many after getting the cam.
Everyone should have a dashcam IMO.
My favorite thing about this cam is it actually tells you that it's not recording due to sd card failing. Lots of others will pretend like all is well until you actually go to get the files and find it wasn't doing it's job. I had a cheap Chinese dash cam and it constantly had issues or gaps in recordings.
I would def recommend this unit or the blackvue starting with basic 590 model which i have at another vehicle and 750 installed in my wifes ride..
Hot and humid summers and brutal winters of Illinois are no issue for viofo or blackvue.

I had this as well and the heat made it melt then the battery swelled up and it died. was decent for 6 months or so.
