Yeah, it's a staff posted deal, so there's a really good chance it's not really a deal to begin with.
According to the three camels it has been this price relatively frequently over the last three months.
It's a blacklisted site here that you can't post. Go to Google and type camel three times, voila.

The last one I bought from Amazon was so shoddily made that it wouldn't stick into the port without retracting back into the body. I was shocked at how bad the construction was.

It's a decent flash drive with the flexibility of an A and a C. But be warned, this baby heats up quickly. It gets surprisingly really hot.

Sincere question: Why is the transfer speed on this 150 MB/s despite being USB-C and the speed on the Samsung 3.1 the other day 400 MB/s? Why is this slower?
"USB-C" just refers to the shape of the connector, and really says nothing about the technology behind it. You can have a USB-C shaped port that is only running USB 2.0, or you can have USB-C shaped port that's Thunderbolt 4...

This threw me off early on when I was confused, too.

So just consider USB-C as a the port shape (will it plug into the port I need it to) then read the specs of the USB-C cable or device to see if the specs suit your needs.

@BurgerMeat-
This is correct. Just like usb-a, usb-b, usb-mini, usb-micro, and I'm sure a few others, usb-c only describes the I/o port connector type; unfortunately, Amazon, et al, list protocols and specs so it muddles things. Great info here if ya wanna nerd out; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB-C

Easily transfer files between smartphones, tablets and computers? Not in my experience.

I have tried using this drive with a Pixal and an Iphone. File transfers constantly freeze after moving a few of the files and then you have to disconnect and start over.

I was trying to use it to move pictures off on my phone. Now using the Photosync app which is much easier and works. Only issue is it does not like VPN so I have to turn it off before using.

Worked fine for me. I was nervous copying thousands of images to the drive but it worked, just gets warm/hot. Actually got this because USB connection from phone to PC stopped showing image files entirely. It's ridiculous that phone-PC file transfer is so janky after 15+ years.

This. Could be the design and not just one-off manufacturing issues. I was concerned I was going to damage the USB port on my PC trying to insert the drive while holding the tiny slider on it to try to prevent it from retracting, so I've started using a USB hub that makes it easier to negotiate the insertion and would be much less of a loss if a port gets damaged.

I bought this last week and it's decent upload and download. Compared to the thin all metal black version

Glad yours did the job for you.

File transfer for the PC has always been kind of ridiculous. How many decades did it take before they figured out a single problem file should not hold up an hours long transfer because you have not yet clicked "OK" in a dialog box?

Because it's more convenient (and faster) to download and/or organize everything (your incoming roms/isos) on a PC and then transfer it to the steam deck via USBc. This remains true for the OLED model (in terms of speed) though less so because of the improvements to wifi. It will always be more convenient to have a secondary device to grab files with.

Also, if your home has multiple steam decks like mine does, and you like simplicity.... You can actually just pre-organize everything into the correct destination folder structure, and literally drag and drop the entire root folder to multiple devices. Takes the device-end work out of the mix.

This all applies only to emulation or perhaps PC redumps though.

Have one, great for getting photos from others when at events. People take photos, promise to share, months later still waiting. This allows you to get them that day. Also great portable backup tool for phone or tablet in high adventure activities.

I have one of these that I bought years ago. It's great until the sliding mechanism breaks (which it will eventually) and it makes it a pain to use at that point. I'd avoid it because of that. I ended buying another one from SanDisk that has a swivel cover instead. I'd go with that one over this. It was only $18 when I bought it so I'm sure it's cheaper now.
