I bought mine during Black Friday, and it exhibits a strange stuttering behavior when using the discrete GPU (gaming, browsing, video playback). Not sure what causes it, but restarting fixes the problem temporarily. Considering returning it.. It seems like other people have experienced this behavior too. https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/rog...d-p/969971
This back on sale....good price. Bought mine BF for this price.
As recommended above, download G-Helper in lieu of the stock Asus software.

Yep it's a keeper at that price. I had a 1GB SSD laying around, I did a clean install (saved iCC config if you do!) and just loaded ghelper and it's perfect! The 512GB SSD is going in PS5 I'm waiting on a $6 heat sink

Could you elaborate more on this? Or point me in the right direction for more info?

I returned it because:
When gpu load was full, there was some kind of noise under the keyboard, around the middle section. Not fan. It's similar to electric noise.
Is it normal? Like vapor chamber cooling, or something else? I liked the laptop otherwise. Will pick up again if that noise is expected.

That's most likely coil whine. It can vary from unit to unit, but some models are more prone to it. Usually comes from the GPU. It's harmless but can be annoying.

Bought open box for $1011. it looked brand new just no original box, WORTH! upgraded the SSD to 2TB 980 Pro and added another 16GB DDR5 stick for 32GB total.

EDIT:
quick question. I tried to register the serial number and it was registered by the previous owner. what do I do about this? ty

Might need to reach out to Asus support?

For this laptop, is it better to power it with the brick power adapter to get it's full potential or is USBC just fine?
