Mazda is having a hard time moving inventory. I bought a new CX-5 Signature at the peak of the pandemic shortages with 0.9% financing and $1000 below MSRP.

I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

One thing i've learned in life is, once you make a large purchase, like a house or car, etc. Just stop looking and researching, you'll only be disappointed

I couldn't disagree more strongly. The OTD price is the only thing that matters. Many dealers will offer a lower price on the vehicle itself and then tack on exorbitant fees. A Mazda dealer about an hour from here advertises $10,000 off MSRP and then tacks on ~$8,500 in fees. That's an extreme case, but most dealers here across various brands charge $2-4k in fees. As such, any time I go buy a vehicle I tell them I will pay X plus tax. That's it. I'm not playing the game where you offer me a great price on the car and then charge me $1,500 for a $150 DMV fee, etc.

The CX5 and CRV have repeatedly traded 1st and 2nd slot positions in their class for I don't know how many years running. More specific to your argument about it being "dated" though is that is constantly praised for its modern looks.
Totally fair in today's world with markups and fees. Those should be included. My argument was trying to say TTL isn't comparable and shouldn't be included.

Pro tip for any Mazda purchase: Get a SCCA membership for under $100 (even if you don't track any car!). One of the member benefits is Mazda S-Plan pricing (invoice pricing; $1.5-2k below MSRP). Then just find a dealer who honors S-Plan (shop around, as some won't honor it (it is not required by dealerships to honor it)).

Last I checked, CX-90 phev is not eligible (yet) for S-Plan.

DM me if need more info on it or for dealerships that honor S-Plan!

😊
Thanks for the pro tip. Could you please confirm any dealership that honors this in South Florida- Miami-Fort Lauderdale area? thanks!

For the record, the Hellcats are badass. I think they will be a future collectable. My comment and analysis is directed towards Stellantis' overall domestic offerings. The data indicates they are in trouble. I don't wish ill on any company, but I also think capitalism in our country weeds out those companies with poor products or poor values. The SUV and Truck categories are saturated with so many options, which makes the up-market Mazda a compelling buy and a worthy competitor to the Toyota and Honda segment leaders.

Range on a tesla isn't really reduced that much. Plus, even in an emergency situation where you don't have charge, there are superchargers everywhere.

A Tesla isn't even comparable to a Mazda. Why do you need 4wd? A Tesla is one of the safest vehicles on the road, RWD included.
Again clearly speaking as someone that doesn't need to driver in snow covered winter

Mazda charges $450 for GPS SD card if you want to keep their GPS as backup. I bought last month with 2.9% APR. Acceleration is poor unless you drive in sports mode.

If you want acceleration you shouldn't be buying Mazdas. They are people mover econo-boxes

is this a better deal than the RAV4 LE which starts at $30k?
Toyota reliability for about the same price. Toyota definitely the better deal long term.

The CX-5 has a much nicer interior, is more fun to drive, and has better reliability. You've obviously never driven or been inside one.
As I said, it's a deal for you. Enjoy your new Mazda!

To your point - the CX-5 is headed for a redesign which is speculated to be 2025. So they are likely trying to move 2024 inventory making room for the redesigned model.

YMMV because you'll need to keep extra insurance for the life of the loan. Can be a good deal, but do the math to make sure you're actually saving 5-6%.
Exactly. And anyone who can't afford to pay cash for a new car, really can't afford a new car. You should be shopping in the used car market in the price tier that you CAN afford.

My 2015 6 needed front lower control arms at 80,000 which I thought was completely ridiculous given I live in CA. Otherwise, it's been fine.
My 2015 CX-5 replaced a 2008 Mazda 6. My 6 was fantastic. It needed almost nothing and finally replaced it around 161,000 miles. The CX-5 wasn't event close to as good.
