This post indicates GF A3 is inferior to the GF 3. It states the 3 has 100% J (ie low tolerance) capacitors while the A3 only has it on the main capacitor. It also states there's more efficiency with the 3.
I can only speak for myself here but I've had the 1200w version powering a 5900x and a 4090 for over a year now and haven't had an issue yet. No random shutdowns, no weird PC behavior, no noise or coil whine. The only thing I've noticed is that it pumps out a lot of heat.
I do 3D rendering, Unreal Engine work and gaming so I really have my PC blasting on all cylinders a lot.
I upgraded from an older Corsair 750w to a Thermaltake GF A3 1200w and couldn't believe the difference in size. The Thermaltake was so small!! It's powering my 4090 without any problems.
So upset I just paid for a new corsair from gamestop, came defective of course. Had to pay for shipping to corsair. Basically 200 dollars for 100 dollars product. I'm pissed
Why didn't you return it to GameStop? That would have been free, no?

GF3 is A-tier. Not sure about GF-A3. Just repeating what is said in the review. Have no experience with the PSU myself.
