A couple of possible reasons would be that Asus may have an overstock of older RAM and SSD's that may slow the system down, so they preset a lower screen resolution to make up for that potential performance loss. A more ethical consideration might be that instead of users bringing their eyes closer to screens due to 1920 resolution(s), a lower resolution enlarges texts, icons, etc. (depending on OS and/or other factors) and lets users avoid some of the detrimental effects of constantly having their mug buried in a computer screen. Ya know... sniff the grass and all that.

Per previous SD listings and questions on BB's site, it looks like it's 1920x1200.

Also looks like 8gb ram is soldered with one slot upgradable (currently is 4gb for 12gb total).

I think that's a listing error on Best Buy's part. Features show that it's full HD, and the manufacturer confirms it in the Q&A.
