Bought this last time around...I am happy with it so far. I popped out the non soldered 4gb ram and replaced it with 16gb.

It's not ideal to have unbalanced ram in like a mission-critical server or something. But in a consumer laptop, there will be an absolutely miniscule difference in performance. And Windows will recognize the unbalanced ram just fine.

It will show and use all 24. Only 16 (8+8) will running dual channel, the remaining 8 will be single channel but still be more useful than just 16.
