List of devices compatible with "Next Gen Speed Tier". [xfinity.com] Again, this only applies if you got an email about increased upload speeds
Edit: If you don't mind 35mbps upload cap or you're not on a plan that would even get you enhanced upload speeds this modem still works great for Xfinity/Comcast.
250mbps on a 1gbps plan is a line issue, not a modem issue. Likely a splitter or cable run that has gone bad. they should be able to see signal at the tap and node without having to visit your house first. If all of those are fine, then you should be testing speeds AT THE MODEM. Not your PC or anything post modem, at your modem. That's all they have to supply. Anything past that is your responsibility.

Any suggestions on a matching WiFi Router?

Back on topic, I tried both this modem and the SB 8200 as they were about the same price at the time and this was faster for me.

I average 500-600 Mbps DL.
Why?
FYI I get 40 UL which is what I'm paying for.

Note: To pull speeds over 1000 Mbps, the router and switch need to support multi-gigabit speeds as well.

BUT, it certainly can do 1gbps downloads. You will have to make a complaint with the FCC to get someone higher up in the company to contact you, and they will. They will get the line crew on it instead of the techs they usually send you. That would be where you demand your money back for the previous service call. Let them temporarily install their own modem and check bandwidth to prove it's not the line. That should have already been done. If it is your modem, you are SOL though.
The 8200 runs marginally cooler on average than the S33 because it doesn't offer as much speed as the S33.
People also didn't like the way the status lights on the S33 worked: the 8200 has individual indicators while you basically have to keep your manual around to know what the light on the S33 is trying to tell you. The other deciding factor for me at the time was price—I got a brand new SB8200 for $80 and the S33 hadn't dropped lower than $180
If you're on a connection that exceeds 1Gb or will soon, and/or the prices are similar, and your 8200 is definitely struggling, go with the S33. Otherwise, another 8200 would be fine if it's significantly cheaper.
Beyond the unreliable product, Arris customer support is truly the worst I have ever experienced. They offer a 2-year warranty. I called and got mine sent back for repair/replacement. The process was a headache, but they sent me a replacement. I was travelling and busy for a few weeks, so I didn't have a chance to install it right away (switched back to Charter modem in the interim). When I did get around to installing the replacement, I found that Arris had sent me a used modem with a pin stuck in the coax port. There's no way they could have even tested it with the pin in there. I tried my best but that pin was not coming out. The whole port needed to be replaced.
I called Arris back and they flat out refused to do anything about it. Evidently their 2-year warranty only covers one replacement, and if they send you junk and you don't notice within a 14-day window, you're out of luck.
TLDR: Original unit died after 9 months. Arris sent a broken replacement, then told me to pound sand.
This is a bad modem from a bad company. Lots of other 1-star reviews commenting on the heat and support issues. Save yourself the headache and stay far away.
