Edit: If you don't mind 35mbps upload cap or you're not on a plan that would even get you enhanced upload speeds this modem still works great for Xfinity/Comcast.
250mbps on a 1gbps plan is a line issue, not a modem issue. Likely a splitter or cable run that has gone bad. they should be able to see signal at the tap and node without having to visit your house first. If all of those are fine, then you should be testing speeds AT THE MODEM. Not your PC or anything post modem, at your modem. That's all they have to supply. Anything past that is your responsibility.

Back on topic, I tried both this modem and the SB 8200 as they were about the same price at the time and this was faster for me.
I did a test with PC connected straight to modem bypassing Asus router and I am getting full 1gb as advertise and ping TTL is excellent.
So after turning off QoS, all wired PC is now getting full 1gb.
