Tip: If you buy from Best Buy- add the plus membership to your order for $50. It'll extend your return period from 15 days to 60 for peace of mind in case the U8K comes back on sale or if you decide you just don't like it. You can cancel the membership within 60 days of purchasing it for a full refund.

Can I buy the Hisense but have them hold it until I get furniture and paint the wall?

Also only 800 nits
the next model up has 1500 nits
the top end hisense has 3000 nits

800 nits spread across 100 inches, is it bright enough?

there's a reason why this is so cheap
I don't think it's bright enough, for me... Wait one more year, double your pleasure...

a lot of Nit-picking here haha. But help me conceptualize Nits, is 800 Nits pretty high compared to projector Lumens?

The Hisense has full array local dimming and 256 dimming zones.
Look up how many dimming zones the mini/micro LED version of this has

It puts this one to shame and runs 200-300 W more efficient and it's 4x brighter

anyone know which mount will work for the hisense 100 inch? I don't need any tilt or fancy options.

Building out a movie room in my basement, total light control; zero windows. All things being equal, would you want a projector with 100" screen or a 100" TV? I feel like the projector would have a more.... cinematic, maybe more immersive, feel to it. Am I crazy? Using a 9.2 surround setup for sound either way. The TV will give the better pic as a true 4k and would actually be cheaper...

Blooming ...The tcl has minimal. blooming..you may have slightly better black levels on the hisense, but the tcl has a pretty clean picture..AKA DSE... see it in person it's a hell of a bargain ...I'm coming from a 75 sony
You can always turn off dimming if you prefer the picture without it on.

Hisense has local dimming (250 zones) so in principle Hisense should be better with blooming control. This TCL model does not even have local dimming.
The opposite for the most part. Blooming is due to the dimming - if the TV doesn't have FALD you won't really see that much. But then you don't get the benefits of the dimming. Always have the option to turn the dimming off if there's a lot of blooming and you decide you don't like it as much as non FALD for some reason though. So those saying they'd prefer TCL because of blooming on Hisense isn't really valid since you can get that on both.

Have the same decision but I'm contemplating 100 inch tv versus 120 plus projector. If it was same size I'd think tv everytime. Are you forced to stayv100 inch?

I'd take an 100" TV over a 100+ inch projector any day of the week. Projector cannot compare on any level, any stat.
