Extenders should be the last resort if you want to extend your wifi signal. Extenders cut the speed in half.

I use these in bridge mode to connect to my HDhomerun connected to an antenna and placed it in the attic.
A ethernet laser printer made wireless by connecting to these.

For the uninitiated, the biggest issue with these is they don't create a mesh network unless you have the exact compatible router. If you don't, these don't really extend your wifi per-se, since they have their own SSID and your mobile devices, etc. won't seamlessly switch between them. They're fine for extending range of static devices like cameras and smart home devices, but don't expect them to actually create a larger dynamic network.
