This has 9 channels, 20 watts more power, more 2.1 inputs, includes Dirac Live( vs MultEQ).

Most people would take this imo.
Just went and placed an order for this. There goes another bill. Lol.

Denon X3800 for hundreds more...and that is not including the Dirac licence and appropriate calibration mic that you will have to buy as well

IMO..if you have a smaller/medium room and dont listen at reference levels you cant beat a unit such as this with Dirac standard for the $$

X3800 was $899.00 here a few months back. I had just pulled the trigger on the Pioneer 505 and missed it. I have since returned the 505. Life is interesting and ironic!

It has also been going on sale for the same price range, but the mic and license are not a small detail

It hasn't gotten down this low($800) but you do get a few more features this doesn't offer.

You also may not need Dirac, Audyssey is very comparable to Dirac Live especially when using the Editor App.
There is a reason why they are often compared to each other.

You also have the option of just getting MultiEQ-X, it gives all the capabilities of Dirac for $199($150 on sale).

I have same issue with my Onkyo NR6050 that I picked up from Costco. The eARC acts funny with my LG G2. Especially when I have Xbox connected through it. Now I connected everything straight to the tv and use eARC. But sometimes it doesn't work

Bad, bad, bad. You need to try again hooking everything up to the receiver and adjusting the receiver settings to play nice with eArc. Passing everything through the TV is super lossy.

Super lossy. Like a tossy salad.
Update all firmware.

Where have you seen the Denon X3800 for $519?

Lowest I have seen the Denon X3800 is a few hundred more than that ..once you add the paid license and required mic you are more than 2X this deal

In my personal ownership over many years of Audyssey Xt32 equipped products and a couple that I own now with Dirac...there is no comparison that Dirac is the better of the two

It depends. Some TVs will pass through an uncompressed signal, but you have to dig deep into the specs to find one that will.

Went ahead and bit on this deal. Upgrading from an old Onkyo TX-SR605 from 2007.

I'm having a lot of eArc drama with my Denon S960, she and my Samsung 90B do NOT get along! How do the Pioneers play along via eArc?

I have the 505 and LG tv, no issues but I had to print the manual and understand all options for avr and tv to make it work.

I have a similar setup, what eArc issue do you mean?

I have that same exact receiver and hate it so much. It's so buggy. Audio randomly doesn't work. I have to power everything off to get everything to work again..
